Clutch DIY

There was a clutch DIY here a few days ago, and for the life of me can't find it. Can someone help out? Search didn't yield poop. Thank you.

Anytime Tex.....

Just remember, if your doing a LWFW, torque the bolts clockwise rather than
star-pattern (like you would your wheels). Good luck, and be patient..it's like a 6, on a scale of 1 to 10 (difficulty).

I just bookmarked this one as well... Looks very easy to do in comparison to doing them on the C5 Corvette. What's the normal time? 4 hours with a lift?

Ryan,

If you decide to DIY, let me know. I need to do mine at some point. Maybe we can do them at the same time. Your place or mine?

mine is going in this week. =( it's starting to get tough to shift and the clutch is slipping. i'd be in for a DIY (for future knowledge as both of the p-cars are hitting 40K) as well if anyone is in the WA area.

I just dropped the car off at Pro Technik and couldn't feel more comfortable with my decision. I would have loved to do it myself but don't have access to a lift or tranny jack(or is it jill?). Chris or Powell if you do decide to DIY please let me know. We can trash my garage or yours. I would just like to watch. I'm a pretty good wrench, but I need to see it done first.

SurferChris, the clutch should be broken in for the 60-130 on 12/8. You and Chris should come out. I'm going to go with UMW Stage 2 turbos early next year sometime. Can't wait...

Sean,

What clutch kit are you using? Are you replacing the slave or vacuum accumulator? What did Pro Technik quote you for labor?

killerbee is infamous around these parts
I will be doing one in the coming months. Installing the UMW package. No lift however and will put it up on stands. Let the wrestling begin.

I am starting mine Monday with a Porsche mechanic at my shop. Full shop with lifts, air, et al. I'll try to take some pics, but if nothing else make some notes on the tricky stuff. The clutch kit and LWFW are Kevin's {UMW} and I have heard nothing but great comments from people who have used his setup. Hopefully I won't have to call him for help but have heard it can be tricky if you are not dropping the motor.

There is a detailed DIY somewhere w/ pics that is a rms job. I have been told also that it is different for tt's because of awd and several other issues. be careful!

Chris,
I'm guessing the coffee hasn't kicked in by 7:56. Hehe. Pro Technik is doing it for $900. I am not doing the accumulators. I am using the UMW LWFW kit. The 500 mile break-in is going to be hard.
