Cold weather boost problem.

Hey fellas here's the deal I've got k16/24 on the car with stock waste gate spring and actuator. In the cold weather here in Indy the car is over boosting and hitting the throttle shut down (1.3 bar). I've backed down the threads a few times but it's still happening. Any suggestions?

Make sure that you are truly over boosting and this is not a plug issue (feel similar) additionally keep in mind the cooler the air gets (sea level) the more dense it becomes hence the ability to sustain more boost. The program should adjust for this unless the boost valve is weak or not working or the wastegates are too tight. How are you adjusting these? Do you know how many threads you have them preset??

I know it's not a plug issue, It's happened before in the cold. Not sure excactly how far but I can def. tell they are staying closed because of slower turbo spool.

Just back off the wg bolts until the overboost issue stops.

If they were staying closed they would spool faster. Do you mean open? If you measure the ends (again not the best way to set up the wastegates) the threads should be apx 6mm and 8mm form the end for a near factory setting. You really need to use a gauge and bleed them off to set them. Make sure you do not have a leak to the valve. The hose does spli or come off. This would cause overboost as well.

Second the check the wastegate signal hose for a split or crack. The crack will close when not under boost (when you can look at it) and open when you are boosting.

Haha that's what I meant. This is 100% a cold weather issue. I've checked everything related and this only happens when its cold. Hey Stephen do you think the ecu should have been flashed for the issue? Should I consider a different flash?
