Race Gas
Christian I am NO racer but I use 50/50 all the time to raise the octane to around 94/95. That way my flashed ECU can take full advantage of the tune as possible. The couple of times I have gone to the track I've just put straight 100 octane in for the few weeks prior to the "event". I'm sure some 91 octane remains but so very little that the octane rating is very close to 100.
Yes the ECU even in stock form is made to run on 93 octane. There is no such animal in these parts of the country. 91 is the best you can get so I always mix with some 100 to get the octane up to where it needs to be even for Porsche's stock tuning.
For a while I ran straight 91 and you can REALLY tell the difference. Timing cuts back and boost gets limited.

Myself and S-351 keep the local VP Racing fuels distributor busy dropping of
Drums of MS-109 (103 octane unleaded) to our various locations. It is best to
run it straight like the good doctor says (If that is what your car is tuned for,
ie. race gas tune). It is between $9.5 and $9.90 a gallon delivered. He also uses
alot for his racing snowmobiles. I run it as straight as possible.

MY CAR LOVES that ms109 stuff and yeah as pure as you can get it in the tank the better....BUT you know what.. even with a little mixture the car runs great... I did notice that running straight 118 didnt work as welll as 50/50 118 leaded with 94 unleaded.... who knows...why...??? but thats what my car likes...
Can anyone confirm this:
Someone tuner in the other turbo boxster engine arena offers a 91 octane mapping and a southwest (CA, NV, AZ) 91 octane mapping. supposedly the 91 octane offered in this part of the country is actually slightly lower grade than 91 in the rest of the world.
100 octane is almost $8/ gallon in newport beach...

A buddy of mine has 110 leaded, it is blue in color. He told me if I mixed it with 93 octane 50/50 split that would make 101.5 octane and that I could run that in my car with my race file, thoughts?
If true, what gains can one expect?
