WOT- unsettling feeling.
WOT- unsettling feeling.
Not sure if anyone can help, but last week, I put new tires on my 19" Champions (last set of tires were slashed). And I was driving home and touched a curb while turning in too sharp (no wheel or tire damage...but felt the bump), and whenever I drive and go WOT, the car feels unsteady. It almost feels like it is pulling left, then right and back and forth over and over again. If I accelerate normally, the car is straight as an arrow and feels stable up to 100 mph+. This feeling only happens when going WOT and on full boost....any suggestions? Alignment is the next step, but could it be anything else? Thanks.
I also inspected the tire and wheel and there is no damage at all. I am guessing the front is toe-ing out, but when I drive normal it feels fine.

It only happens while going WOT whether the the tires are cold or fully heated up after many miles of driving. Whenever accelerating normally it is 100% fine and at high speeds, but once I hit the gas and it fully boosts, the steering wheel pulls left then right and back and forth kinda hard. The car feels extremely unsteady only under full boost..not at .1 to .7 bar, just at full boost.
i would go with mold release compound still on the tires... it usually takes about 500km ~300miles to burn off..UNLESS you are bringing them up to temp often enough to work it off
and if it is at all cold in your area, it will take much longer... i would just take some more time ti break in the rubber

Any time you bump a wheel like that, you take a chance on skewing the toe. I'd have the alignment checked even if you do find mismatched tire pressures. I'm not that far away and know the weather you've been experiencing... I was shocked to find my tire pressures 6# off about 2 weeks ago.

Unfortunately I have not seen his girl around, so I haven't boned her yet! My day of redemption will come...

I completely forgot about this thread. Well, it turns out that my tire pressures were way off. I usually do 36f/44r and I had something like 25lbs on one front and 31 on the other, and the rears were in the mid 20lbs. I have checked the pressures many times and it is dead on and the car drives great.
As for your car Steve, you may want to check your alignment if your tire pressures are good.
