Greddy over ECU
Greddy over ECU
Can someone explain to me exactly how the Greddy overrides the ECU boost control on the Protomotive kit (18/24) or now the Softronic, I'm really curious!
Is the ECU boost written out so the Greddy takes control or does it override the ECU boost?

The N75 valve is disconnected from the ECU. Normally when it wants to lower boost it sends a signal to the N75 valve which then opens the wastegates. The N75 is controlled by the EBC in that application.....
. I wouldn't use it on my car, but others swear by it. To each is own....
Why wouldn't you use it on your motor (if running the Proto 18/24 set up) I take it you would just prefer ECU control?
lol, no honestly, it might be my guy (and me) who is not getting his head around this completely serious, I'm thinking he thinks that the ECU is being overriden by the Greddy, but your saying that the ECU valve is disconnected anyway.

You can do it either way. Make the map so the N75 valve controls the boost or use a EBC. Some owners like to control the boost themselves while others do no want to touch it and have it set in the DME. I should note that certain applications you would have no choice.
I remember not long ago when everyone liked a dial a buck. I always thought that those should have had a spot for your credit card next to them so that you could pay for the new engine at the same time.

I would rather have the ECU control the boost. This is a philosphical kind of thing. The EBC guys love it. The full Motronic guys don't. The N75 valve is disconnected from ECu control and now controlled by the EBC....anything beyond that you should ask the guys that run it regularly. I still think you were causing trouble

BTW, Kev do you know how long roughly it would take?

with a boost controller you have overridden the computer and there are no fail safes left in case of bad gas or too much boost.....which means you better know what your doing and practice a little self control or you will be spending alot of time wondering...... WTF just happened
.Good for some and very bad for others.BTW I have a boost controller in my car.
