New Seats...for FREE!!!

Hey all. I'm new to the 996tt world having just bought a 2003 stock 996tt less than a month ago. However, I took it in for maintenance at the local p-dealer and was told that my sport seats had been recalled and new ones would be put in my car. Well, I wasn't sure I believed them. New seats, WOW, how lucky was this to get new seats on an almost 5 year old car.
The seats weren't that bad, but obviously some wear on them. Anyway, I just picked up my car yesterday from the dealer after they put in the new seats. Looks great! Really freshened up the interior. I just figured I would pass this info along so some others out there might get a great New Years present like I did. Worth a call to your local dealer anyway!

What was the purpose of the recall? was it cosmetic or structural?

Check out this link for recalls: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm
It looks like there were 2 for the 2003 Turbo - one for seats that indicates "IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE SEATS COULD TWIST, TILTING ON ONE SIDE TO THE REAR, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT." --- Scary stuff

The other is for a power steering pressure line stating "IF THE FITTING IS LOOSE, THE HYDRAULIC FLUID COULD LEAK OUT, WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST AND, FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, LOSS OF CLUTCH ASSISTANCE. IF THE LEAKING FLUID COMES INTO CONTACT WITH HOT EXHAUST COMPONENTS, IT COULD IGNITE." -- Also scary stuff.

My question is, why only for MY03. My '02 has sport seats and I'd be shocked to learn that the part number is different between the '02 and '03.

Yeap, structural, as noted above. I would also be shocked that the 'o2 was any different.

thanks for the tip....I will have to check this out with my local dealer (RUSNAK)...I'd heard about the hydraulic power assist hose issue not the seats...just so that I'm clear, is any 2003 turbo seat or the hard-back, sport seats? I have the hard-back sport seats....thanks for any help!!
