'05 Turbo S - Decision Time

PCNA has finally conformed its USA website to the ROW (rest of world) and has posted the Turbo S coupe and cab for 2005. Dealers have been provided with allocations for 2005 turbos and it appears that there will be very limited production of '05 turbos (both coupe and cab) and all of them S models.

It therefore appears that the first 997 turbo (if they actually are built) will be '06 models, at the earliest.

Now, my choice is do I take delivery of my '04 tt cab that is scheduled for build completion this Mondayand delivery next month, or wait until October to take delivery of an S.

If you feel like you can hold out for another 3 months (and it's not that long time if you think about it) I would wait....

Figure, if you take delivery next month of 04 one there is only two months wait difference....

But at the end it's up to you....

I am having the same debate Rob...I have an 04 TT Coupe due in August that is pretty custom with red belts and stitching, red gauges, carbon fiber..painted Rear Center Console...and now I think I am getting kind of getting shafted because I have a MSRP of 132K and purchase price of 127K. No Ceramics (not that I would want them anyways), and no X50. I could be one of the first ones on the list for the S..but then I would have to add all those Exclusive Options back in but have more HP.

I know what you are going through...I think about it EVERYDAY as well!!

same decision to be made here ... except my car comes in two weeks ... i made the car to the EXACT specifications i wanted ... i already started purchasing my mods ... at this point ive decided that i will buy the '04, and i wont let the '05 "s" version stop me from buying it ... bottom line is that i like the turbo, and just because they are making some changes doesnt mean that i should wait for the next year model ... if i did that i would never buy a car because things change on a car every yr. so what if it depreciates a lot when the new model comes out ... if i was worried about depreciation i wouldnt buy the turbo .. i think you should buy the car and just enjoy it ... i know i will

Good logical advice, thanks. Will see if logic prevails over emotions.

As I see it with the S model they are forcing you to get the PCCB which, I believe, most people agree are a waste of money and the X-50. If you plan to stay stock then X-50 is a benefit but if you are planning to modify, that money is better spent elsewhere.

Keep in mind that the prevailing thought has been that the X50 or S turbos are actually more laggy in everyday use. This translates into a faster car around town.

Actually not. First time in over 20 years no Porsche in the garage. Love my Mini Cooper S, but I sold my Boxster S as I was led to believe my tt cab would arrive in May - didn't. So down to driving the Mini every day.

Found out today my Atlas Grey tt cab was completed yesterday and now awaits shipment. Looking more like I will take it as it is speced exactly as I want and I guess it is the Mod route - to gain some more performance.
