Europipe/Fabspeed Analysis
Europipe/Fabspeed Analysis
I have graphed the Europipe stage II loud compared to the Fabspeed TRACK PIPES (all referenced to stock).
The curve on the EP does not seem to make a lot of sense. Stephan, do you have the AFR's for the EP and Fabspeed track exhaust for those dyno's so I can see if it is a tuning issue. I know your ECU was tuned for the Fabspeed and want to know if there is that much of a tuning difference or something really strange (I think unlikely, the huge drop from 4,000 to 4,500 is really odd) with the exhaust.
I talked to EP about modifying their exhaust for straight pipes and they didn't want to do it. If I can fix the top end with ECU tuning, I would accept going that way.

OK, talked briefly with Stephen, says the AFR's were within 0.3 and the ECU was allowed to re-map so that should not be the problem. EP seemed to think it was a tuning issue. HMMMM!
Any thoughts?

I had tuned the Europipe and the Fabspeed on my car a long time ago. The above graphs were not what I saw. It happened over a year and a half ago. The state of the art at the time was far lower than it is today. I believe 500 plus rwhp was tops then with any tuner. One of my graphs was used on the Fabspeed website.
What I found was the two exhausts were very close. The Europipe was ahead of the Fabspeed to approx. 5200 rpm's. After 5200 they were neck in neck. For some unknown reason on every dyno run I have ever done with a Fabspeed, it spikes approx. 20 hp @ 6750 for only a brief second. The Europipe produced more average rwhp between 2300 and 7100 rpm's. Again, the difference between the two wasn't enough hp that anyone could detect other than on a dyno.

Thanks Chad, while I have quite a bit of respect (and gratitude) for Stephen’s work, the 90+ ft lb torque increase that disappears so rapidly seams extremely strange to me and I can't explain it. Do you have any thoughts? Bad data? Real? Strange anomaly?
It is my understanding the car was tuned for the Fabspeed. That alone will make a difference. Stephen did alot of work just to test all the exhausts he did. To tune for each would have been exponentially more work.
Many things can change when using a dyno. The only true comparison is to test two equally set up cars on the same dyno back to back.
Something is definitely amiss with the Europipe dyno run that I saw posted above. It is not representative of any Europipe dyno run I have ever seen.

Tim - are you sure those numbers are from the lates version of Stephen's report? If I recall, there was a mistake in inoutting some of the numbers for the EP from the dyno sheet to Excel but that was later corrected by Stephen...
