996 Turbo / GT2 Turbo discussion on previous model 2000-2005 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo and 911 GT2.

Any internal differences between 996TT and 997TT engines?

I dunno, some super carbon/ceramic job from Stephen @ IA. Grips like a ****. I burned the hell out of it last weekend, and then ripped off 13 passes without a problem. Still smells a bit though.

When you going to slap on those bad boy hybrids?

I still got a few things to buy and a few parts I'm waiting on. It'll come together eventually. I'm so pumped to get it going, but with my school schedule it kills my working hours so my funds are low right now The turbos are haunting me from the closet right now! LOL!

Wow! That's quite the system. Any sounds clips???

Well, this tells me that there is no way for anyone to "patent" the crossover.....that was discussed before. If GMG, Kevin at UMW, and Tym think it is a good design, it probably really is a great design.

Looks good too.

Sound clips?

I honestly can't see how it's a great idea when compared to a straight-through system from each side (no U-turn mufflers). The exhaust gas streams are ramming head-on. This has to increase backpressure. It may sound better, but your exhaust gas velocity must suffer as a result. Think of all the turbulence at that intersection.

in theory you are correct if all cylinders fired at the same time. but we all know each cylinder fires individually... the theory of x pipes is the cylinder that fires as the exhaust gasses passes the x pipe it scavenges vacuum and helps pull the exhaust from the opposing side that has fired. so this creates MAD POWER!!! I need this...lol

I stand corrected, thanks man. I wonder if at high rpms do the gasses exit quickly enough to produce this scavenging effect, or does it just turn into the turbulent mayhem I think it might...

Tyms work is insane. I have his exhaust on my car, and the quality is top notch. Tym and Todd @ Proto working together with other shops, will help push this community in a great direction towards the performance of these cars.
