Which Car? Nissan GTR or Corvette ZR1
Well, first off the GTR is ugly. It looks like someone put 1970's imsa panels on a 350z. It is also FAT. The only reason why it even handles is because it has a track suspension that will have your teeth worn down to the gums in a week.
Also, I do not believe any of the reports on it yet. When the full production model comes out in the US and that one is tested then we will see, but I would take the Vette over it as of right now. Much more refined car. How many nissans do you see that look good after 5 years?
look wisely before you spend your cash. The ZO6 is probably the most bang for your buck available in any car today. Where else can you get 500hp for 70-80k? The only other car that offers as much bang for your buck is the STI, but it is in a lower power level.
I would wait to see how this car does for a few years, before I went out and bought it.

the other thing is that if you look at the acceleration numbers, once you get past 110, the GTR becomes a dog. The speed through the traps is considerably lower than the other two cars. Even so, the only way to a get a 3900 lb pig to go as fast is with gearing. However, if they price in the 50's, it will rule. But if the estimated price is in the 70's, I am sure the actual price will be well over that more likely in the mid 80's.
But we'll see. If Motor Trend had done this test, the vette would have won for sure. Motor Trend loves chevy and Ferrari, so any comparo involving those two cars will always go to them. So maybe the GTR versus Zo6 in MT will come out soon with different results.

Next you'll point out that the main reason the GTR can achieve the stated 400 m times is because it has four wheels.
Can't wait for Motor Trend to do the only objective comparo to date involving the GTR......which you know the outcome of already!
Your incisive comments have really added value to this thread.

I don't know the outcome in MT, but I'd bet you a 6 pack of wicked ale that the vette will win it..
More fuel to the fire. Any knowledgeable fanboys able to explain this one? Dont worry, we already know the answer.

Here's the telemetry from the lap at Buttonwillow. A couple of things I notice...all 3 cars are virtually identical at all points of the track. Acceleration, braking, and cornering speeds. There are a couple of exceptions though.
The GT-R is 5 mph faster at a point after the Cotton Corners. Then, after the Riverside Curve, the GT-R only loses 5 mph where as the Z06 loses 20 mph!
Finally, at the Esses the GT-R is accelerating the entire time whereas the Z06 and 911 both have the brakes applied! Why was this done? It lead to a drastic difference in speed, at what happens to be the fastest part of the track.
AND THIS
YOU DONT HIT THE BRAKES IN THE ESSES!!!!! There is 4 of the 5 second gap right there. And he had to have done that intentionally.
For those of you who are going to try and come up with something stupid like "OMG THE GT-R TOTALLY PWNZERS TRACTION AND ISNT SUBJECT TO GRAVITY!!!" Heres a video.

Let me know when you see someone else hit the brakes entering the esses?Point being there are MANY cars that can actually go through a set of esses without braking or coasting the whole time. And these esses arent even that fast.
Boy oh boy is it fun exposing the frauds.

Ok, here's a lap of Buttonwillow taken about a month ago.

Here's a map of Buttonwillow.

The driver enters The Esses at 1:56 in the video. After watching this driver take those corners, does it seem odd that the Z06 and 911 both had the brakes applied midway through this set of turns?

I see me providing evidence that even the people that dont like have to agree is shady and misleading.
I see you getting butt hurt because your beloved GT-R isnt all that it's cracked up to be. Your magazines have failed you yet again.
