If you start doing your research you will probably find that what they want for the delete kit and new carpet is prohibitive!

I took the seat backs out of mine and left the bottoms. I cut off the metal tabs in the middle that acted as the hinge for the seat backs and put the cover back on.

The seat bottoms are velcroed in place if you want to start looking it over you will figure it out pretty easily. I saw someplace where the belts were tucked under the speaker enclosure and that is what I did. Itg looks pretty clean and did not cost anything. By picking up a new center pivot someone could put the seats back in too.

Check Renntech. They are a great source for working on your own vehicle.

Takes about 20min. Just go back there with a few sockets and wrench, you'll figure it out. Really, it's probably like a 0.1 on the 1-10 scale.

I was thinking of doing this; although, for the purpose of having more room, keeping the seat backs helps as the second layer ... if anyone could tell me some sort of storage box for the 996tt, then ... off the seats ...

i did this (sort of) on my 996 C2 - the seats were easy... the seatbelts, couldnt figure it out though and it actually didn't look too good either - the car is gone so it doesn't matter anymore, but with my turbos... i leave em back there, it looks better and at worst just fold em down and that looks better too - the weight savings is negligible, a few pounds...not worth the effort imo

I feel the same. I don't track my 996tt so no need. How much weight can you save anyways. I just have them folded down. Looks better and my dog likes it better to...

Carnewal sells the rear seat delete carpet set. It's not cheap. I also read on similar thread how to take out the seat belts and center seat hinge bracket.
