did a corner balance & EVO waste gates... impressions inside
hey guys,
i was driving the car around and noticed it was very twitchy when slammig on the gas, and when taking turns... the car was recently aligned at RPM racing... it drove straight, but was scary ...
i called up Tim and he suggested a corner balance...
i took the car in today, and it turns out the car was off balance by a little over 200lbs on the right rear/front left...
after a few hours of tweaking with it, the car is absolutely planted to the road...
here are my specs if interested
weight of car w/ FULL tank of gas, and myself (180lbs)-3721 lbs
FL 757 FR 734
RL 1150 RR 1080
because the ride height was readjusted, the alignment was corrected.
my alignment specs are as follows
Front Caster
Left 7.96* Right 8.11*
Front Camber
Left -0.95* Right -1.02*
Front Toe
Left 0.06* Right .06*
Rear Camber
Left 1.33* Right -1.30*
Rear Toe
Left 0.13* Right 0.18*
Thrust Angle
-0.03*
Ride Height
Front Left 23.5" Front Right 23.25"
Rear Left 23.25" Rear Right 23.50"
After all that was done, i decided to upgrade the waste gates, because all i was seeing was 1.0 bar of boost...
after installing it, the car spikes at 1.2, and hold 1.1 from 3000rpm to redline...
i felt a HUGE difference in throttle response, and the lag was significantly decreased..
im gonna run the z06 again tomorrow and see how i do...
next mods that are going into the car is the vivid racing Air Intake & Custom Headers from RPM racing...
we also adjusted the setting on my JIC coilovers becuase the ride was too stiff, and the car would "skip" when taking turns and hitting small bumps...
it set to 1 click from softest.. and it;s perfect..
the car is completely planted to the road, and when im on the gas, it doesnt get uneasy..

i had my alignment done abit more aggressively by ron in NJ a couple months back. corner balanced as well. car felt so much more planted just like you describe. these cars, especially with the roads in the area need an alighment quite often.

Totally with you. Wastegate upgrade is the least appreciated mod.

If you want less lag...go with the RSS/IPD Plemun... or Turbo inlet pipes.
I did also the EVO IC's .. well, my K-24 Stage 4 is runing (7.89) almost the same as the new EVO GT660 (7.83) 60-130
....sure the 5bar FR is crying to get in my setup.

im gonna call tim tom for the upgraded wastgates..im running k24s as well..where are you running z06 in ny captree?..im always there running z06 out there...troopers were out heavy today..

if i still cant pull hard on him, im gonna dump the k24s and go with GTxx...
BTW, does anyone know if Z06's have LWFW ? i was in his z06 today, and it sounded it had one, yet he claims the car is 100% stock..

Steve, on your ride height, are you measuring from the ground to the fender arch? I t should be about 25.5 inches. If you are running the Pss9`s you could have major problems at that 23.5 ht meaning you will be bottoming ou on the bump stops
