Just bought a C6 Z06...
Thanks guys. I really like the car. I've tossed the idea of buying one around for a while now.
I honestly had no intention of buying anything this year (was going to wait until I returned from my next deployment in October)...but ran across this extremely low-mileage gem with the right color at the right price while running errands. It was for sale at a Mercedes dealership of all places. The owner of the car was a friend of the dealership's owner...and he had it on consigment there.
Anyway; I drove it, loved it...and made an offer. 1 hour later I was driving her home.

that is awesome. i am truely envious of you.
you have the exact two cars i am having a hard time choosing just one between... well not so hard im definetely leaning more towards the P car but the Z is so tempting.
please do make a write up of a comparison of the two if you ever get the chance.
enjoy!

You will love the car even though it is not as fast as your P-car. In stock form it is a great daily driver - very comfortable and easy to manage in traffic. It also has some power when you want to mash the right foot to the floor. It is ready to go to the road course without any mods and be very competive with just about any car there.
Congrats & Enjoy

I will warn you. If you intend on tracking the car, be very careful if you modify the suspension and/or use stickier tires. The oiling systems sucks. It is cannot handle the additional G's of the mod's. You will lose a motor.
Not to mention the stock brakes arent track ready...replacement rotors are a must.
Here's two more. It's still nasty outside!
Once it clears up, I'll get some pics of the TT and the Z next to each other. Of course, videos will be coming soon as well...just for fun.

Beautiful car. I really like the aggressive looks...
I almost got into one not too long ago... black as well... in my case I was going to give the TT as trade in. But we could not agree on the numbers.
If you do not want to post it here, can you pm me what you got it for? The one I looked at was a new one, maybe I can keep the TT and get a used one instead...

Scott,
Congratulations! I've been driving mine over the past few days for the first time since last fall. It's quite entertaining spinning through 2nd gear on the OEM tires around town.
Now that I've logged a couple more days of seat time, what I have found with my modded Z is that it takes more effort to drive around town in traffic than my previous GT2. It's much louder, shifting takes more effort, doesn't ride as well, feels larger and heavier than it really is, etc. The overall entertainment factor though is very high. But then jump on the highway and it completely changes personality. It cruises extremely well, rides softer, quiets down, and it very comfortable. Almost the opposite experience I had with the GT2....the Porsche was easier and more relaxing to cruise back and forth to the office and around town, but on the highway at 80 mph+, seemed a bit high strung and nervous at times.
There aren't two cars that drive and feel more different than a GT2 and Z06. I think overall, I probably liked my modded GT2 better….as the mods we did seem to still keep the car driving and feeling more like a stock GT2. Perhaps I liked it a bit more due to the overall quality and exclusivity. But regardless, the Z06 is faster and more entertaining. I have never driven a stock Z06, so perhaps the around town drivability of a modded Z is quite a bit less than a stock version.
Alex, as for the gold chains....not yet....but I'm considering stopping the chest wax and growing the hair back.

Scott, congrats on the purchase! I've often toyed with the idea of getting a new style Z06 but ultimately decided against it due to the inability to reliably turbocharge and the fact that vette's are a dime a dozen. I do however think I would LOVE the car given the chance to own it. So what will it be at TX2K9?? P-Car? Z-Car?

Hey bro. I felt the same as you do about the Z until I drove it. It really drives wonderfully....and at least where I live, I don't see many C6 Z's.
As far as next year, it unfortunately looks I'll be in the Horn of Africa from October to April. But I plan on attending TX2K10, 11, 12, and....
