Possible turbo problems???

Well, I have had my 01 TT with only 5000 miles for 9 days now. I seem to be having a problem. The turbos do not seem to be boosting at all. I checked the bar, and get nothing. Any ideas anyone? It is hot here in Ellicott City, MD.

Also, I had to get some gas, because the onboard computer said I had 36 miles to empty, and the gas light was on. Not too sure what happened. Any ideas anyone?

No boost or just low boost? If you are low like below .5 bar the car is in limp mode. If no boost then the boost valve cold be failing, an intake leak or a wastegate is stuck open. The wastegate is not likely. Are you sure this isn't a gauge issue?

Actually showing no boost at all. When I floor the gas pedal, it feels like an NA car. Was not too sure if it was way too hot here, because it was almost 92 degrees today. But I didn't think that would really make a difference.

Actually no codes on the onboard computer, and I also checked for any leaks on the ground. There was none at all. Not too sure, but is it possible the turbos are shot? Thanks again for any info you have. I am kinda worried about my 9 day new purchase...thank god it is still under warranty for almost a year.

evidently when you are really low on gas the car goes into a Limp Mode and kills the boost to prevent running the car out of gas... this almost happened to me today when I was hauling *** through a long canyon by PCH in West LA... I went through a 1/4 tank of gas in about 10 minutes!!! Luckily I got to a station before my car did that.

Didn't you test drive the car before you bought it? You would have known then if the turbos where blown out.

If it is the limp mode from almost running out of gas, then why wouldn't it be back to normal today? The car is filled up, and seems to not want to boost the turbos. The bar is still reading zero, and I feel like the car has only about 150hp. Guess once it gets back to normal, it will feel like a rocket again. Is there any procedure to take it out of limp mode, or is it just a trip to the dealer for a reset? Thanks again.

And yes I did drive the car before I bought it. The TT makes my 2002 M3 cab feel like a real pig in acceleration.

You can disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes and try it again.

If I disconnect the battery, are there any other procedures to do besides inputting the nav code and radio code? I assume the entire car will have to be reprogrammed like the radio stations, memory seating and preferences I have set.

Also is there a way to disconnect besides disconnecting the terminal from the battery? Thank you so much for this information. Having the best car in the world with no power is stressing.

Save yourself some trouble and disconnect the battery... it may not solve the problem, but it will reset some things. I don't remember ever having to reset seat memory, radio stations, or any other settings after disconnecting my battery.

I have run my tank down low enough on several occasions to show ZERO miles left (on the factory nav system) and have never had problems such as you describe.

I assume this vehicle is under warranty... if disconnecting the battery cables doesn't solve the problem... take it in and let them hook it up to a PST2 diagnostic tester.

Alrighty battery is disconnected and the wait is on. I hope that it is just a ecu reset, and that my turbos will start working again. If not I guess my monday appt will let me know whats wrong. Also I assume driving the car like this will not hurt anything. If so, back to my 2002 M3 cab which seems so slow now.

Well, went 45 mins with the battery disconnected, and still no boost at all. The engine revs fine and there is no smoke, or adverse feelings except for no turbo boost. Does anyone else have any suggestions for me. Really starting to have turbo withdrawl symptoms.
