Replacing fuel injector

Hi all,

I have been having an issue with my new 01 where there is a miss at idle (can especially hear the missfire now with straight pipes). I recently replaced all the coil packs, plugs and the MAF (car came with a K&N which I replaced with a stock air filter as well). After these changes the car was much more drivable but still has the miss. I keep getting code P0301 which is a missfire on cylinder 1. So the car comes back apart this weekend and I'm going to check the injector. My question is, does anyone have instructions/guidance on installing an injector/s? I have read that you can drop the motor a few inches without totalling removing it from the car which can give enough clearance to do the job with the engine in the car. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I dropped the motor a bit and did it... but its a *****.... a nightmare to be exact...
the passenger side is even worse...

I would first get the car diagnosed at a dealer before ripping the top of the motor apart...
maybe its a cam sensor or something...

Hmmm, doesn't sound too enticing, thanks for the heads up. I think I am going to double check that the coil pack harness is clicked in place. I was hoping the injector wouldn't be too bad since I would already have the car partially apart but it doesn't sound like that is the case? Also, the dealer did replace the cam sensor right before I purchased the car.

No one has any instructions? Is this something thats fairly obvious when you get in there? I've done injectors on many other cars, usually just unbolt the fuel lines, rail and replace injector. Is it hard simply due to space constraints or are there a lot of parts that need to be removed first, etc? Appreciate the help.

I did injectors a few weeks ago and like Mark said its a pain in the A$$. Driver side isnt as bad but the passanger side will make you rip your hair out. I recommend anyone to take it to a shop or a dealership.

Sorry for 2 post. But its like no other car, I have done injectors on dozons of cars. You have to remove everything above the rail: airpump, oil filling neck, lines all the intake piping, ect. After that is all removed you can see part of the rail now is the hand breaking fun!

Thanks guys, especially appreciate the pictures Markski. I think I'll just drop the motor as it sounds like it would be a lot of time and headache saved. I've learned in the past that I usually spend more time trying to get around things like not dropping the motor than had I just done it right from the start. Maybe I'll try to do the clutch at the same time and make the job/time worthwhile. So with that said, anyone have instructions for dropping the motor (or a link to shop manuals). Thanks, I can't tell everyone how much I appreciate all the help I've received so far on this board.
