Oil Change?

A question for all of you guys with modded cars, how frequent do you change your oil? Also what brand/weight is your preference. I have been told with synthetic you do not have do it often <3000mi.

Thanks

I change mine every 4-5,000 unless I attend a track day, then I change right afterwards. I have been using 5-40 synthetic.

I'm dumping mine every other track event, along with the tranny fluid. I'll average about 1500 miles at the most between changes... I'm also using Mobil1 Synthetic Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 or Shell Synthetic Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40, whichever is available at the time.

I try to do it every 3k or so, but always in the beginning of the spring after it been sitting. I have been enjoying the car so much because of our crappy winter, I am putting a lot more miles on the car.

I noticed that there are two kinds of Mobil1 Synthetic 5W40, one for Turbo Diesel Truck and one for European cars. Are they the same? I guess I can use them both according to Mikelly; is that a correct assumption? If yes, can you mix them?
Thanks.

Summers here can get to over 100F, and I push my car very hard. Should I consider something like 5W40?

I'm about to head off to Spa and Nurburgring for a week of serious action on track, I have moved from 5-40 up to 15-50 just for summer tracking, then move back down to 5-40 for the rest of the year.

For those of you that are changing your oil very frequently, are you also changing the filters?

it's a must, no point in changing oil if you don't do the filter.

Guys I'm not the oil guru, but I'm following the advice given by Kevin at UMW...

I've switched over due to reasons provided on his website.

Maybe I had better read my manual again, as I thought 0w 40 was the reccomended viscosity from Porsche ? And yes, change the filter, it is cheap and why leave a dirty filter in. Dont forget to drain the oil from the turbos as well .
