What tire comes stock on a 2004 TT Cab?
Hey Guys, I just got a few questions and comments that I hoped you could help me with!
What tires come stock on a 2004 TT Cab?
On 2 previous cars I bought, they could've came with Michelin Pilots or Continental Contisport Contacts. I always wanted the Michelin Pilots, but I always ended up with the stupid Continental's. I'm not a big fan of Continental so I'm hoping my new P-Car won't come with them (again!!!). I know the OEM tire's before were the S-02A's and the PZero's, but I consider those very "Old Technology" tires. IMO, passenger tires have come a very long way in the past few years so I'm hoping Porsche changed the stock tire they put on the 911 Turbo to something better.
I tried searching for this information, but I couldn't find it.
Also, a lot of guys complain that the TT understeers (it seemed to be true for me during my brief test drive of a 2001 TT). I remember reading a thread where someone suggested buying the GT2's Michelin PS2 in 235/40-18. Overall, it's only 8mm taller so I don't think it'd be a big problem for the differential. I think it'd really help take away some understeer. I personally think a 225/40-18 tire is REALLY inadequate for a car that weighs 3,500+ pounds. The funny thing is that my friend who drives an Acura RSX Type-S with 18" rims also uses the 225/40-18 size. It seems funny that that's the most popular 18" tire size for Honda's (which are less than 3,000 lbs), but for a Porsche with REALLY wide rears to use that size in the front doesn't seem quite right.
Either way, everyone's opinion is appreciated!
Thanks,
KJ

Thanks for all the replies guys. It looks like I should be expecting Michelin Pilot Sports, but there is an outside chance that I'll end up getting S-02A's. I was always a fan of Bridgestone S-02's, but if I get them, I think they'll last me 1-1.5 summers max. Those things wear out FAST.
As long as I don't get the Pirelli's, I'm happy! =)
Maybe I'll be lucky and get PS2's by some fluke! hahaha (I wish).

My dealer just called me and told me my car came with Bridgestone S-03's!!!
I didn't even know S-03's came in 996 Turbo sizes!!!
I asked him if he meant S-02A's, but he said "Nope, these are the new Bridgestone's. We've had a few Turbo's lately that have been shipped with S-03's". I hope he's not mistaken!!!
If he's right, I'm a HAPPY MAN. I'd take the S-03's over the Michelin Pilot Sports any day!!! Untill the PS2's came out, the S-03's were my favorite tires!!!

After searching Tirerack.com, Bridgestone Canada and Bridgestone USA and finding nothing, I finally found that the S-03 does come in 996 Turbo sizes from Bridgestone Europe's website.

It seems that they discontinued the S-02A's and made an equivalent size S-03 to replace it!!!
I can't wait to test out these bad boy's! This is the best tire I could've gotten on this car other than PS2's!!!
