guys
my car is gonna be RWD this week
what are the EXACT setting for the corner balance that my car needs to have ?
im 180 lbs, and i would like to do the balance with half a tank of gas in the car
please tell me the exact specs that each corner needs to have
also,
would a rwd turbo outgrip an awd turbo, both with same suspension etc
im sick of the understeer my car gives and just dont like the general awd system in the car

Here's one of my recent posts about the topic. Cool upgrade if you do a suspension too...otherwise it is dangerous and your car will be slower due to constant tire spin.

RWD will never outgrip AWD using the same platform, just not possible.
Cornerbalances vary from one car to the next, there is no way to give exact specs, but most try to equalize the corners hence the name corner balance. FR + RL = FL + RR general rule of thumb is their goal, while trying to put a little more force on the front suspension. You may get a % or two improvement, but that's it.

Hey Steve,
Before you go RWD I would suggest driving a car with RWD and over 500WHP since that is eventually where you will probably end up. What power modifications do you have done so far? From what I recall you were looking into the K24/18's? RWD would be outright scary on my car and the extra grip gives me a extra margin of safety when taking turns. Regardless of what you do setting up the suspension is key (obviously). You might want to give Paul at Protosport a call as he sets up tons of cars for both track and street. The current alignment (that Paul did) on my car is spot on. I have JIC's with H&R sways...

It's a mistake. If the goal is maximum performance AWD is a huge advantage both on the street and in any club-racing you care to do. The driver is the #1 differentiator here. Only recco here is that you *might* throw an LSD into the current setup which will help the car to track a little bit straighter when you're on FULL BOOST and exiting corners.

I remember someone once telling me AWD will make an average driver a better driver by helping to correct driver/car input/output. RWD will make a average driver seem like a "worse" driver by magnifying errors in driver input (especially with ESP turned off like in a GT2) I am a average driver thus I feel safer in my AWD. I drove RCNJ's car and felt perfectly fine in it with the added power (didn't push it hard though) but then again the GT2 and the 996TT have different setups both in frame and drivetrain. so this is not really a fair comparison. From what I've been told the GT2 frame is stiffer than the 996TT's.
best in the world....
when the best Porsche test/race drivers in the world are telling you that their choice for maximum performance and control is an AWD platform, you go AWD. if you insist on RWD with a 600+HP on tap, buy a Viper since that way, you only wreck a $30K car "when you wreck it" ~

What's wrong with AWD? I find the rear power bias is pretty good on the TT. I can't imagine how it would drive with all the power to the rears. You should consider a GT2 if u needed a RWD.
If you want to push the back out abit, get some beefy sways at the back. I have H&R on my.

I love my RWD setup for feel on the street and track! I'm a stage 4+ and have no issues with grip running 19's with fresh PS2's (315's). I also have Eibach sways with PSS9's and my car was recently corner balanced and I had some additional -camber dialed in front and rear. The car just feels more alive to me and like the weight loss up front! I'm not saying AWD is bad but I believe that it is a personal preference for feel. I've had a few AWD cars and my current daily driver is an S6 Avant (AWD).

the factory put AWD in a 420hp car for the masses to drive safely not to be the fastest track set up so pick your poison. for tooling around and short fun sprints with your friends keep your AWD, for badass track drivers Porsche has chosen the ................ what.................. oh ya..............the RWD GT2 set up.
if you have 500+ hp the AWD will not make you safer it will make your car push more, understeer more, weigh more, and have no throttle steer or trail braking qualities that skilled track drivers need.
my car full real deal RWD will be finished this week and to the track the next.
I will post before and after traqmate data, I am hoping the RWD set up will be faster.
