Replacing the Clutch
Replacing the Clutch
Is it a engine job out to replace the clutch on the 996tt or is there enough room to simply undo all the bell housing bolts, prop shaft and lift the box out?? Had a quick look under the vehicle and it doesn't look to hard to get at. Anyone DIY'd the clutch and any special tools needed?

Hi... The book tells you to drop the motor. It can be done with the motor in the car but it is a little tricky and if you drop one of the parts for the clutch fork in the bell housing you will need to drop the trans again. It can be done if you have a lift, trans jack, jack pole, and little hands

Dropping the tranny for my guy = 8-10 hours. Motor= 12-15 ... I went with a complete kit with LWFW from Kevin at UMW. No issues and all went well. All RS stuff (964 RS fw, etc.).
Search...the lwfw thing comes up, but now is the cheapest it will ever be to do this mod....it makes noise, etc. But if you are a track/de/high performance person (not drag racing)...it seems to be welcomed by most.
