K24 question - Stage I boost falls off...

I recently did a flash and dv install on my X50 and what I am noticing is the boost peak to 1.1-1.2 bar and then fall off to 0.8-0.9 bar. My question is whether or not other k24 cars without an aftermarket exhaust experienced the same thing or whether or not this is evidence of a boost leak? I have heard some people say that an exhaust really frees up the k24 turbos, hence I am inclined to think this is an issue with the "hot-side" restricting the system but I really just want to hear what other guys have experienced.

Based on some reading, it seems if I had a boost leak I would know it (i.e. down to 0.5 bar);
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ght=boost+leak

I replaced all the clamps with screw tight ones and the only connection that felt ever so loose (even after putting the gray O ring back) was the hose right above "1" (no clue what it does);

Thanks in advance,

I know I don't know much on the subject but did you beef up the wastegates also (stronger spring)? I know it is a popular mod whe going the K24/18G route to hold the higher programmed boost isn't it?

Watching your thread as I have an X50 and considerring the same flash, just I want to do the exhaust first anyway...

I don't know if it's a boost leak or not...I don't think you would see 1.2bar ever if you had a boost leak.

Upgrading your wastegates isn't a bad idea, but you need to get this issue squared away first. The wastegates will keep you pinned at 1.2bar all the way to redline, where the stock wastegates will cause boost to fall off near redline.

I would take your car to the shop and let them look for a leak somewhere. The hoses that attach to the intercoolers are inside the bumper/subframe, so it's very hard to see if they are loose without removing the bumper. You should also get the codes read, as sometimes the car will throw a code but not give you a CEL.

Thanks for the replies. I have not modified the wastegates - I was actually thinking of doing the k24/18g w/ upgraded internal wastegates but not likely until next year.

I have a durametric cable, so I will check for any codes.

Just curious, are the hoses that attach to the top of the dv's vacuum or boost?

Vacuum. A ziptie is really all you need to hold those guys on. Also, be careful with screw clamps. They threading and holes on them (if not sleeved) can tear up hoses.

Well they haven't popped off, I was just curious.

Do you have a picture of the "sleeve" by chance?

I know oettinger makes them. Here's a pic from a vivid product (maybe they can get them in the size you need)

See how there is no rough or notched surface on the inside of the clamp. This saves hoses.

With only a flash and DVs, I think 1.1-1.2 is too high. I think you should have whoever flashed your car to take a look. IMO
