profile for 19 x 11 rim

can i run a higher profile on my 19 inch rim for a 996 turbo. currently running a 315/25/19 and would like a bit more sidewall. Could I do a 305/30/19?? Anybody doing this? any pics would be appreciated. TIA I think the front is 235/30/19

Bos is infamous around these parts
The key is going to be tire specs on the 305 for both rim width and overall diameter. The overall diameter can't be greater than 4% difference between front and rear due to the AWD.

u can run that size rear.. but I think you will have to change the front tire size to match the rear tires better maybe a 245/35 TIRE

Bad idea to use 305/30 19 rear tire. The diameter difference is great enough to cause your front differential to overheat. There is no sensor in the front differential and you learn of a problem is by front diff failure.

Could I adjust the front tire as mentioned to avoid the diff problem?

No, because using a 26" diameter in the front of the 996 causes rubbing problems. I would use a 315/25 19 rear tire depending on which size and offset wheel you are using.

hey boca996tt, can you post the exact tire size/brand you were running. Also do you happen to have any pics of that setup. I think a bit higher profile looks good like the 997 gt2 has in the rear.

It was continental sport contact 2 size 235/35-19 & in rear I had 295/30-19.. rear tires were stretched a bit to fit my 11.5 rim

Ruff, what issues are you having with the 25 series tire (comfort, curb, looks)?

Well, I have bent one rim w/ regualr city driving. I just like the higher profile look, feel i have more "cushion" with a higher profile. Lastly, more availability and cheaper to buy tires that are 295/30 or 305/30. Not a huge deal, but if I could safely run the 305/30 with 235/35 up front I would do it.
