What does 6speeders think about the NSX in comparison with 911?

I remember few owners here who have 911 turbo also own or owned NSX before.

I m looking at the 2002+ NSX with 295 HP, 0-60 in 5.0 sec. yes its not a rocket but I ve heard the car handles as good as the 911 turbo. It may not be the fastest but it drives the same if not better than the 911.

The price range between the 911 turbo and NSX 02+ is similar. I found a 05 NSX for $60,000 with only 6000 miles and a few 911 turbo with 30k miles for $60,000.

Say my budget is $60,000. My choices are 996 turbo, NSX, Boxster/Cayman S, 997 S, which one looks to be the better choices. I m also concerned about maintenance, I think NSX is basically trouble free as it is a Honda afterall. Through some research, I found that there could be a NSX replacement in 2010.

I had a 91 and then a 98 NSX. Then a 2000 Carrera and now a 2003 TT. The NSX is an absolutely great car. It handles as well as any car out there which is alot to say for a car that is 17 years old. It does lack technology though. Only traction control, that's it. I really loved my NSX's but I felt like they were getting dated when I sold mine 5 years ago. As far as speed goes, it is not even close to a TT.

I have owned an 94 NSX for 4 years, indeed a great car but it felt to slow for me,you get used to the power in a few weeks but when I drive my 996tt it always feels like a rocket..But when power is not so important for you the NSX is a wonderfull car to drive.

how is the gas mileage on NSX compared with TT?

handling, steering? NSX is 5 speed, but TT is 6 speed. Big difference, do you notice the difference?

I think a 1996 NSX is also a six speed,an NSX is smoother to drive, very easy to shift through gears,if the NSX would have the power like a 996tt I would prefer to drive it,for me driving an NSX felt more like a race car, maybe because it's a very low car.The NSX doesn't need as much gas like the 996tt but like I said before the 996tt is much much faster.

As for maintenance, I think the NSX is much cheaper than TT right?
The TT is 0-60 in 4.3seconds? the NSX is 5.0secs, so its not THAT much faster is it?

I drive a 997 S before that I felt like that was fast enough for me.

If I want the power in the NSX, I guess I would put a TURBO/supercharge it. but how much would that cost?

In terms of resale value, both cars are outdated. I heard about the rumor in 2010 for the next NSX which suppose to be priced about $60k-70, but the one NSX im looking at is already priced at $60,000.

996 TT is not reliable, is it? if anything goes wrong, it would cost thousands of dollars...right?

yeah 4.3 vs 5,0 sec, but what happens after that lol the nsx gets stomped BAD lacks torque! if it was a lovefab turbo nsx then i would deffinately consider it, but if its a n/a like you say , tt all the way.

4.3 vs 5.0 seconds is HUGE when you actually get out on the road and go through the gears

Can't explain the difference in performance and drive through just numbers. If you're seriously considering a 996TT, you should drive one - no substitute for that. I suspect after 5 mins at the wheel you'll know if it's for you.

I've seen tests of stock Turbos at 3.9 - 4.1s. Factory list 4.2s.

A flashed turbo with exhaust will probably shave a couple of tenths off that due to the increased Torque.

I would think they are about the same, you pay extra "tax" for it being somewhat of an exotic

No not that much it A LOT faster

I drive a 997 S before that I felt like that was fast enough for me.

NSX will be slower than a 997 S

If I want the power in the NSX, I guess I would put a TURBO/supercharge it. but how much would that cost?

$10,000 excluding installation and upgraded clutch

NSX is outdated, 996 TT is not.

Anything goes wrong with the NSX it would cost thousands of dollars. TT is reliable but the NSX is as reliable as an Accord which any other performance car can't compare.

The NSX is a beautiful car, i still love how it looks, but in terms of performance it is just not there. Straight line just about any EVO/STI would outrun you. Best handling? That Mid Engine car is a handful to control when it snaps out of line and with no "advanced" traction control. It's a nice car but it can't compete with the 996 TT IMHO.

The NSX is a great car. I have owned 4 of them. The only problem is the lack of power. I have solved that problem by installing a Comptech Supercharger in my 2004 NSX.

BTW, I have decided to sell my 2004 NSX because of financial issues. It has 23K miles, a Comptech Supercharger, a top notch stereo system, custom wheels, big brake kit, and many many extras.

Having owned an NSX and several 996TT there is really no comparison. The NSX was a great car but simply doesn't even come close. The power just isn't there. There are always mods to take into consideration, but if your comparing stock cars, the 996TT is the correct choice.
