Hey guys,
I have searched this topic, but I have not found to much. I am wondering (if any) what the best Free/inexpensive modifications you can do to the car.

1. For more power
2. For Looks
3. Anything at all!!

My new 2001 Turbo will be here by 5pm.. I am so excited!!!

As smokin said these cars are had to modify inexpensively or for free. Gotta pay to play in the Porsche game.

You could cut the springs, and lower the car for free.....

You could gut up your intake box to make it breathe from both sides....

You could remove your bumper supports, rear seats, and a few other things to drop weight....

drop in filter, wastegates, DV's, modify stock exh, port your stock headers, and shed wieght(tool kit, back seats and seat belts, ect...).

i do not have any experience with this exact set up; but should net some gains for little money to just your time.

anymore gains will cost you!!!

Of course inexpensive is all relative

Weight reduction is something to consider:
remove rear seats and seat belt assembly
remove rear wiper - plug hole (contact Bumper Plugs for color-matched plug)

Other cost options:
997 shift assembly - shorter and smoother than the 996 shift pattern

Higher cost items:
Flash
DVs
Upgraded exhaust system (purchased used from the classified section)

Just a few for you to ponder...

Rich

Oh and there's a mod to the stock exhaust that others have seemed to like very much.

Search the archives and you'll find some good reading on the mod to the exhaust.

Just the cost of a drill bit and some effort on your part...

Look for the exhaust diy floating around here. One cordless drill. One unibit. Done.

The "cheapest" fun you can have motor wise, bar none, is an Upsolute remap at something like $800.

There will always be inexpensive mod's depending on your definition of expensive. But Free is almost laughable on this car. You can pull stuff off the car for weight savings, that's free, but head caution when trying to "trick" the ecu to make more boost and trying to make more HP without buying the right parts. That can quickly lead to engine failure which will cost way more then any modifications would. We've seen these "free mods" a lot cause more damage and cost to fix then doing the right mod's the first time.
