Dead battery, help

I returned home after being away for a few weeks and my battery is dead. I read the owner's manual and it says it recommends a Porsche Battery (of course). I see that we have hold down clips that secure our batteries. Is it OK to get a non Porsche Battery and have it moving around in there? What are you guys doing? Thanks fellas, I appreciate it.

they make batteries that are the same size as stock. You can use the stock bracket to secure it. I don't think its safe having the battery moving around.

I got an Interstate too, fits very well. Remember to ask for the vent tube since it is not attached to the battery. 7 lbs lighter than OEM. Paid $115 + tax here in CA.

I got an exact fit battery from Autozone - also about $115. Bring the old battery with you to match size.

I agree... don't let the battery move around. If you ever do an Autocross or DE event, the car would not pass the tech inspection.

I replaced with an interstate battery which went bad in 2 months. The battery would die after only two days sitting. Interstate replaced it with no problems. For what it's worth, the guy at Autozone told be that cars like mine eat batteries because of their stiff suspension.... more vibration... he suggested the Optima as a more durable battery. I have no idea if he's right, but I thought I'd try something different.

I ended up with an Optima Red battery which is lighter, but I had to fabricate mounting brackets using Marine parts.

Optima Yellow with custom billet mount.

Call Dennis Barish for battery mount: 818 399 7216. I got the Optima at Costco. I also have a sound system installed so the upgraded battery was a must anyways. I believe it is lighter than stock and with this bracket installed it is super secure! I've autocrossed and tracked the car with no issues.

These cars MUST have the alarm initiated if you leave your car sitting. If not, certain electronics stay on in the car at it draws about 4x the power that it should. When alarm is initiated, it drops down to a super low draw...

Don't ask me how I know!@#@ My installer had to run many tests to figure this out b/c we thought I had a drain somewhere from my sound system... Luckily with an Optima (deep cycle), killing the battery doesn't rapidly diminish its life like a normal battery would!

Well, next issue, since my battery is entirely dead I can't open my front trunk. What's the technique to open the front trunk fellas? Thanks for all of your recommendations, I'll skip the OEM Porsche Battery.

Should be able to... The procedure is listed in your manual as well. It's pretty simple-it'll just pop when you do it right....

best price is at walmart... same battery as autozone and other places except rebranded.

to get the trunk open, you can charge the battery from the engine compartment also I think.
