ecu question

hey guys, i'm pretty new here. I bought my first 996TT earlier this year... my newbie question is... when i purchased the car, the seller said the ECU was flashed by techart...first, is that even a good flash or should I consider reflashing it? reason i ask is in most of the threads here, there seems to be so many recommendations for other ECU flashes... sorry if it seems like a dumb question, would appreciate any help as I'm trying to learn and figure out what else I need to do to the car... thanks.

yes you can re-flash it and I'm sure you will get more than a few recommendations. Good luck with your decision.

let me rephrase, would it be worth it to reflash? is the techart flash any good?

super996TT is infamous around these parts
Techart is very good setup..I highly doubt you will get more power from a different setup. I actually lost power once I switched from techart to another well known brand. How much boost are you showing? mine was 1.2 bar max

buy Vbox Usa Driftbox and begin documenting your ACTUAL performance.

Use this as a baseline and gather more knowledge. Techart has great products but eventually it becomes about comfort level, support and future goals. If you are a posuer, and only drive it to dinner, golf, and occasionally to the office is alot different
set of circumstances than if you like to drag race, road race, street race (god forbid),
do the standing mile, Open Road Racing, etc, etc.

It is fine if you just want to tool around in it, but just be sure to have someone staple your skirt up so it doesnt get caught in the door...

Good luck

Marty

thanks so much for you input, any and all are appreciated. so far on the car, i have the techart flash, cold air intake, IDP Plenum and exhaust and i've seen it hit 1.3 bars not really pushing it too hard... but i definitely want to continue to do mods and get the most out of this car over time...

Any works on the fuel system, wastegate, or turbo? 1.3 is quite high with your list.

thats the thing... i added the plenum and the cold air.. when i bought the car, all the guy told me he did was techart stage 2 flash, exhaust and dv's... that's what he told me, but I could tell he had more on there but must've parted some stuff out... so i actually have no idea... i had my friend who's had a 996TT before, and when he drove my car, he said he saw it hit 1.4, but haven't pushed the car that hard yet... it's all quite confusing to me since it's my first porsche but i'm really enjoying reading this forum and trying to figure out what the hell i'm doing.

I think you maybe right about the seller parted out some of the parts. You may want to bring your car to a reputable tuner for advice. Most of them are super nice to work with.
