Broken Shifter?? ...No More

There was a thread last week about guys complaining of broken shifters. At that time I indicated to you all that we were in the process of having a solution. Well, here it is.... We will have final production completed by the end of next week. They are going to sell for $129. We are offering them for 6speedonline guys a special price of $99. Our shifter linkage replaces the OEM plastic unit and will NOT break. It is CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminum and has a machined delrin bushing. Our upgrade will work with the stock shifter as well as with the B&M and the FVD shifters. It is a guaranteed fix for those broken shifters. If you want to order one, you can purchase online here: Order EVO "ShiftLink"

Todd,
I have a few questions. Please pardon my ignorance here as I am not overly familiar with either the stock part or your replacement.

When I look at the photos, particularly of the stock linkage with the spring, I get the impression that it is in the line of force of the linkage to the transmission. It appears to work in tension or compression along its axis (pull-push). It also looks like the spring allows one half of the linkage to move axially with respect to the other half (much like a shock absorber). If these assumptions of mine are correct, it would seem Porsche intended the spring to take up any excess force, due to the driver applied shift effort, to avoid damage to the gears....in a way only allowing a certain amount of force to be transmitted to the transmission gears with the excess force being taken up by the spring compressing.
Just as I prefaced this, I may be all wet with this since I am not sure how this piece fits into the grand scheme of the shifter mechanism in which case, feel free to enlighten me.

KPV - when shifting, that spring never moves...It is only there so you can pull the 'cover' back, put the cable in then have a closed cylinder all around it...I know this explanation sounfds like .... but hope someone else can pitch in

msindi, you are correct. The spring is there not to act as a shock absorber but to prevent the locking mechanism that keeps this plastic piece over the shifter cable. If anyone has seen this piece in person, you will know first hand what a piece of **** it is

Mike,

The new EVO "shiftlink" uses part of our SSK and it has proven itself to be very reliable. I have had one in my own car for a while and it works flawless. No more stranded TT over a cheap plastic shift linkage

YES it will work with the B&M. It was designed to work with the stock shifter as well.
