Thumbs down Do not ever let your wife drive your TT

After many months of asking i finally gave in and let my wife drive my TT. Biggest mistake of my life. After many painful over revs and many attempts of shifting, i couldnt take it any more.

I made her pull over and switch seats which have now eluded to a 6 day fight with no end in sight. The fighting i'm use to but the 3 minutes with her behind the wheel was true pain...

Learn from my mistake and just say no.......

Do yourself a favor. Rent a cheap car and spend a day teaching her to drive stick. The car is far less important (and expensive) than your marriage. I did the same, and now my wife drives our TT on the track at DE's with some skill

My guess is that yoir wife may have been nervous . It wasn't a happy moment for either of you but to quarrel for six days isn't going to help . Perhaps you guys can find some common ground to resolve this . Reassure her that your marriage to her means more than any car and my guess is that it might be a good step . Let her know that you cared about her from day one and her happiness is important for both of you .

The car needs to be an item of happiness --not resentment. It means something to you and there has to be a way of sharing it which suits your relationship .

Good luck.

Smile

You guys are cracking me up...she'll get over it as i already did days ago. I DONT want her to drive it in that it will really rack up the miles. Plus the wheels will be wasted fast from curb rash...

Got her a new mercedes last year and those wheels have seen better days...Nobodys perfect but i stick with my original comment:

"Do not let your wife drive your TT"

Less guys hit on my wife when she drives the TT. Too intimidated i think.

Either way, she prefers the minivan.

It's just a car....let her drive it! My girl drives the wheels off mine and it makes me smile when she has fun.

it takes a lot of nerve to drive a stick. you really wont find a stick rental car anywhere for obvious reason.

i think encouragement, mental practice, tips, and knowing proper steps are the best way to learn

i learned it on various cars including a NSX! my buddy just told me to relax even as people honked at me etc. he really put me to ease. just sharing my experience

as for the over-rev, maybe just have her shift at 3k? maybe she was too nervous to look at the tech....
