Indy Garage in SE Michigan?
Actually Kern works at the Lavery porsche dealership. Very knowledgable, he rebuilds trannys and engines to changing oil. You have to specify him though.
Tom Schick at Auto Europe is quite good also. Not as hard core porsche but very competent. My corner balance and alignment there was awesome. Believe me, I've tried lots of different places in Michigan..

Although Fred Lavery Company isnt an independant, I know Kern pretty well and would also recommend him if you are looking for a shop in the area.
The shop is on woodward ave, in Birmingham just south of maple.

My only experience with Porsche dealerships in Michigan was at Suburban Porsche in Farmington Hills near where I work. I stopped by there a couple of times when I was looking for a Turbo. I found them very arrogant and judgmental and not at all helpful, so I looked elsewhere. Their techs may be different, but I was so turned off by the dealership I have no interest in going back.
Birmingham is a bit of a trek for me, but doable if the service is good. You guys have any experience with Gilson Motor Sports in Royal Oak?

Considering they don't have the tool to adjust kinematic toe I'd pass, but they are closer to you...
