Less than two weeks...

12 days ago today I hit a groundhog on track at over 135mph... Thanfully I had the support of Steve at Suncoast to get the parts I needed in a hurry... I also had the words of wisdom from Roibert at Lufteknic with regards to bleeding the cooling system when I was done with the damage repair...

So what was the damage???

Center Radiator
Belly pan between the bumper cover and the trunk
Drivers side wheel well housing
Aerokit front Splitter
lower radiator bracket
Duct between the radator and bumber cover

Tomorrow I'll bleed the brakes, take the car for a ride and see if its ready to go for next weekend's romp at VIR. Hopefully nothing else will creep up and cause a problem...

Thanks Steve for getting the parts to me so quickly!!

Mike

Are you sure it was a groundhog? Im sure all that was left could only be cleaned with a mop and spatula.

What's wierd is that people talk about on track incidents and how everything slows... Yea, I saw it... I saw its tail sticking out, the last few strides as his front legs went in between his rear legs as it sprinted hard to get across the track. I knew I was going to hit him and there was nothing I could do. I had committed to and taken a pass on another car and I wasn't prepared to "attempt" to maneuver and avoid the animal and possible bring another driver into my accident... There is another guy who supposedly got it on tape. I'm waiting for him to send me a DVD of the incident... The hit was hard enough that I expected the airbags to deploy...

I'll post it when I get it...

So today the car was DONE DONE, and I loaded it into the trailer. I got a phone call and took it from one of my employees, distracting me... I get into the truck... Pull out... go to move the car 600ft... I hear THUD... car rolled forward into the fuel can holder in the car trailer... Cutting the front cover and ripping of the OEM spoiler...

I'd chocked the wheels and where the "failure occured was that I didn't strap the wheels and forgot to set the E-brake when I got the phone call...

So now I need the whole front bumper cover, and the lower front spoiler...

Don't rush, don't get distracted and don't lose focus...

Broke the inner fender covers as well...

Mike -

Sorry to hear about that. I once got distracted like that and forgot to torque one wheel. I have a lot of checklists now.

Car is back together again and I'll get the tech inspection done on Tuesday before the event this coming weekend... So far the left side radiator isn't leaking, which really was the impact area...
