SL 65 on the floor!

While doing a little car shopping with my dad, i walked into one of the local M-B dealers and lo-and-behold what's right in front of me, a black SL65. I asked the salesman whose it was and he wasn't quite sure, saying he thought there was a deposit on it. As I looked, i noticed that this one had been driven some and he explained there was 61 miles on it, courtesy of the folks at M-B. There was a small note in the windshield saying this car had been chosen at random off the production line for field testing or something like that! It said the car was new and all other nice words and you should enjoy your "new" car. If that was my car I'd be really pissed off and who knows how many extra miles may have been thrown in by the dealer. Anyway, the sticker was 185 and I wrote a check on the spot, not. Looks nice enough and probably goes like stink but I think I'd rather have an SL 55 and 60+ in my pocket, assuming you could get the 65 at MSRP, which you really can't. The E55 I drove was also nice but so was the S-type R. It was too wet by the time we made it over to see a CTS-V, so no road time.

my brother tried to buy that black sl65 in huntington. offered list. they rejected and he already has an sl55 he bought from them.

they said they wanted 222,000 and that car isnt even loaded. no clear roof or keyless etc.

i told my brother to get a gallardo for the money. so we are going to check one out this weekend.

well, it sucks but good marketing. put it this way, a true car guy won't buy the 65 even at sticker. the car is for some rich old man wants to impress the old lady. 222,000, guess they don't care.

I didn't ask the price but knew they would want over sticker. I've seen it with the GT-2 where the dealer over-estimated a cars spotlight time and rejected offers that they ultimately end up selling it for less. Market for SL65 is very narrow, any 65 for that matter.
