996TT or 997 Carrera S?

I know you guys have your bias, but is a '03 to '04 996TT w/ 25k on it or a '97 997S with 5k on it a better, smarter, buy?

The 996TT transmission problems are a real concern. Trying to be smart and responsible here.

If You Have To Ask, Go W/ With The 997.
It's Not A Matter Of Being Smart Or Responsible, Is A Matter Of Modding The Car (996tt) Or Just Driving A Newer (and Fast Enough) 911.

The motor in the 996tt is really bullet proof, it's the modified case from the 964.

You might want to dig a little further into the whole "transmission" issue and make a mroe educated guess... There aren't that many that have suffered this issue, and there is a known REAL fix for it now that isn't that expensive, when you consider the tranny will be out of the car if you're one of the unlucky few to have to deal with it.

The 996TT motor is leaps and bounds a better platform.

If you are buying the car to experience a porsche, be seen in a porsche, and interior is more important than speed, then the 997 is the car for you.

If you want to experience a Porsche, go fast in a Porsche, and your heart is more performance oriented, the 996 TT is for you.

Simple as that, both Porsche quality, two completely different mentalities though.

This topic has been discussed on many threads already and should have been searched, However, then I wouldn't have seen the funniest replies about our wives.

Just spend 10 minutes driving both cars. You will know what your answer is.
