Question Fuel Octane And Boost

I'm in England and the best fuel I can get is 100 RON
What's the maximum boost I can run on this?

The reason I ask is I'm still deciding whether to go for 24/18g's or 24/20g's
If I can run sufficient boost I might be tempted to go for the 20g's

This is a question that you should ask your turner directly.

And for us US folk, your 100 Ron is not as good as what we consider 100 Octane.
It is more like our 93 or 94 I believe. (please verify).
So depending on fueling you are probably in that 1.0 bar to 1.1 max type situation.

Good luck in talking to your tuner!

Ist basically the same as our 93 octane... maybe 95 at most... with that said you will be limited to the same boost as most guys in the US....

May I say a personal thankyou to you for all your help so far - it is very much appreciated!

I've just worked out the following
98 RON = 91.5 AKI
100 RON = 94.5 AKI

With that in mind am I right in thinking I should stick with the 18g's?

hmmm...If 100octane european fuel is almost the same as 95 US fuel...then I do have a problem...I always get this fuel because it is the best available here...and my boost is 1,3 to 1,4...(k24/18g)Should I add some additives such as nos octane booster?

I think we should be 1.1-1.25 bar with this type of fuel?

If I run this level of boost could I go with 20g turbos?
Or should I stick with the 18g's?

Ant-

Others may disagree with me...Stick with a 18g setup. You wont be disappointed.

I haven't seen positive results with the 20g's. I noticed no gains in power and significant gains in intake air temperatures. In my opinion the 20g compressor wheel is not a good match to the k24 housing.

So,
If I go with the 24/18g's with 100RON (95 AKI) fuel I will be limited to approx 1.2 bar approx

As I am in England and the weather is always rubbish would I get any benefit from upgraded ICs - or would they be overkill?

Also - would I see any benefit from the proto intake and TB?
Should I consider these too or would they be wasted on my car?

With the 18g's I only run 1.0 - 1.05 bar on 93 octane. I don't feel the need to run anymore boost with that fuel, and I just don't think it's safe. I know others here feel the same way, as does Todd at Protomotive. The car performs GREAT at 1 bar on pump gas, so I prefer to be as safe as possible with my $20K engine.

There has been more than 1 person who has done damage to their engine running too much boost on pump gas (1.3+ bar).

I will say that when running GOOD fuel, I'm much more liberal with the boost. I turn it up to 1.2 bar with 103 octane and it really screams. I know others here turn it up to 1.3 - 1.4 bar with good fuel and haven't had any problems.
