Window Tint Suggestions...

Getting my windows tinted this weekend and wanted to get some feed back on how some of my fellow P car owners feel about how dark or light to go?

5% (limo) on all windows. 20-35% titanium or equivalent for windshield.

Do you have that % on your ride? If so pics would be great.

I have 5% on my daily driver and it is extremely hard to see out of at night. I have to shoulder look twice to make sure there's no car there. In fact I was waiting in the car one sunny afternoon and my friend walked out and stood 3 ft from my car door and still couldn't see if there was anyone inside.

Just a pic for reference

Here's 20% on the front windows

It looks great but I will not go darker than 15% (prob 20% for me).

What's people's take on the whole "metallic" vs "non-metallic" tint? Does it make that much of a difference on your radio reception?

Remember that some states like California prohibit the tinting of the front driver and passenger side windows or windshield. Law enforcement has to be able to see your hands or movement when they walk up to the car...so if you tint the front, you may be cited and forced to have it removed. It's best you check your local laws before you pay to have this done.

Chuck thanks for the advice. Always good to remember the law...when possible. I am in the Pacific NW so I think the law around here is 35%. I am def not going to do anything less than 20% b/c that is what I had on my 928 gt and it was a huge pain backing up anywhere when it was dark out. So with that said I will prob go 30% Thanks for all the help.

In California (I won't comment on anywhere else), you get to pay the "bail" or you "fix it". The bail for my last ticket was $75.00- cheaper than removal, getting an officer to write off the fix, then re-tinting. That was my experience last year. I've got 40% with a black interior- it can look dark. The interior color makes a big difference in how dark the tint looks from outside the car.

I had mine done at 37% and haven't had any problems with any of the local gendarmes.....but the commment about the color of the interior is true....a black or charcoal int.erior does make the window look darker than it really is

I would go with any where around 30% it's dark enough where you can drive at night and will not seem like you are sitting underground. Plus it looks great.

each brand has different % but I would say to keep it classy and mean looking at the same time.. some where between 20% and 35%... sometimes too dark on these cars make it look cheap... just my 2 cents

Interior color makes a difference. I have 35% on my Audi S4 with a black interior and looks great. I did the 996tt done the same only the tt has a gray interior. The tt looks way lighter because of the interior color. I am going to have it redone at 20%

the angle of the rear glass on our 996tt also allows more light in and as mentioned interior colors do come into play..... I think your safe with a 20% tint

I was going to get metalic silver on my black on black 996TT, but I'm rethinking it... I may just get the traditional dark tint at the state legal limits, which in Va. are 50% front doors, 35% rear and rear side windows.

If the car was grey or silver in color, I might go with the metalic silver tint. But I think with Black paint, it might look cheap.

Here's a question for you guys: Are there different methods of applying window tint? I see some cheaply done and peeling, and this appears to be a different type of tint that something like a factory tint.
