BTW - if you don't have access to electrical socket for the tender, i'd look into getting either a battery kill switch (the type that has a metal screw that contacts) or just pull off the negative. if you end up letting it sit for a week or 2, it's hard to say if it'll want to start.

Does anyone have any experience with those Braille batteries? 11-17 lbs is remarkable. If so, what model/bracket? And, for the Optima, what bracket do you use? My current battery is the original on an '05 997S car, and it just seems to be cranking slower and slower. I have had it on a Battery Tender for a day or so, and it won't go to 'green'. Not good.

The following is a link to a bracket that I recently purchased. It works with an Optima Red Top 34/78 series. Weight is 38 pounds. 800cca at 0 degrees and 1000cca at 32 degrees. Some drilling to mount the bracket I understand, but minor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150323879702

There was a DIY thread on ....I think it was Rennlist that showed how to make a mounting plate for the Optima battery....IIRC it was pretty well done and looked good.

I just searched the site and could not find "type E2"...

Could you give more data: model number, size, etc. TIA!!!!

Yes, please more info on the Sears battery. The lightweight batteries work, but they require a battery tender all the time which can be annoying. If you live in an area which get's below 40 degrees, you will have isssues if you park your car overnight w/o a tender. They're a good option for a track car.

In my opinion and many others, the Optima isn't the battery informed people purchase - sort of like Monster Cables. They aren't reliable and offer no advantages in weight or cranking. Pluses are they're "pretty" and sealed which means they're potentialy mountable inside the vehicle. Inside mounting isn't practical in this application.
