Upsolute Installed

Got my ECU back from Lanny in Southern California. Dropped it off Tuesday and he shipped it back Wednesday for Thursday delivery. Plugged it back in last night and fired her up. Idle is a little rough, but so far I'm pretty impressed.

I'd say lag is no better or worse than before. Boost is significantly stronger at about 3700 rpm or so. I've seen the boost meter spike at 1.0 bar holding steady at .9 bar.

Dropped the car off this afternoon to dyno. Hopefully I'll have some results next week. While it's there, I'm having the vent screens painted since I could not find black anodized screens anywhere.

Edit: I forgot to add that car feels amazingly faster not only because of the added boost, but probably also because I dropped about 80 pounds of subwoofer and enclosure. I had to take it out to get to the ECU. It's not going back in until I'm satisfied that everything is in order.

Should you wait a while to dyno... I heard that it takes a few days for the ECU to "learn" the new program fully...

Thanks for the advice. The car is having some other stuff done to it so they are just going to dyno it while it's there. I'll probably dyno it again later down the road with some 100 octane in it.

The idle smooths out after a hundred miles of relearning .
Or to speed it up you can readapt the throttle body sooner by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes , then turning on the ignition for 60 seconds but not starting the engine, then shut off for ten seconds, then start engine.
To give you an idea how sensitive today's car's ECUs are, my idle smoothness was affected temporarily just by putting in a clean OEM air filter !

This is so true!!!

My stock DV was blown only 8K miles after chipping my car to 1bar.

Get either the Billet DV or an HKS BOV from SP Engineering or Akkurat.

How often does this happen? The guy that is doing my work actually races cup cars and says that he has never seen the factory DV's fail. I guess an ounce of prevention never hurt anyone. I'll probably ask him to install them after I upgrade the turbos.

Mr Kram,

If you want to obtain a true potential for your dyno reading you need to run the car very hard for a little bit right before you put it on the dyno. The ECU has to learn.
