I agree, I have K24/18s just like Tom. At my power level a 5 bar is fine. You simply don't need injectors yet.

From a "textbook" tuning prospective, your existing set up does need injectors.

At "650" crank hps, you will be at 95%+ injectors duty. We try never to tune injectors passed 85% of their capability.

Your talking about the K24/18 setup right?

If you are talking about the K16/24's how much power gain did you see? or was it more safety margin.?

I have seen w/ my own eyes in the real world that injectors do indeed make a difference for the 24/18's. About .4 seconds in a 60-130 run which is about 2 car lengths.

We haven't turned up the boost to fully yet on our setup, but I'm willing to bet with the extra boost we can now safely run with our injectors, we'll see 50-75hp more on race gas with K24/18Gs than without. That and it's nice to know that at 600whp we're at 55% duty cycle vs. 95% that's a MUCH better tuning window, and leaves more than enough ceiling should something unexpected happen either with gasoline being used, or an overboost.

Wes, how high are you going to turn the boost up to on race gas?

This is still a stock bottom end car isn't it?

I have a question? How much more agressive can you be with Q16 vs C16 with timing?

not too much... you gain the oxygenation more than being able to increase the timing

So far I've turned her up to 1.32 bar and made 594. I've been running MS109 in the car since we put the turbos on for safety as we get the map right for the 1,000cc. I like to be safe when setting up a boost controller and tune, it's better to have race fuel and watch the logs on initial setup to get an idea wherey ou should be on pump, then go back to pump and relog to verify you are safe. We just installed a set of intercoolers on the car, and if all goes as planned and our new diff gets installed in time, I'll turn her up to 1.45-1.5 bar this week and see how she does. Probably leave it there for TX2K9 so that Nero can have some fun in Mexico. The engine is bone stock with 66k miles, I'd much rather use this car as a guinea pig than a customers car.

Q16 is pretty much oxygenated C16, they're similarly priced so most just switch to Q with minor tuning changes. If you want to get more aggressive with timing you will likely want to swap to VP Import.

VP import? Wow that is a new one. I use VP vit C (C16) when I am on high boost. But so many Supras are now running Q and they always seem to be a head of the Porsche community by a few years... just curious.

Most of the BIG power supras run import. C16 and now Q16 are very popular as it's a more common tuneup and a considerable savings over Import. We've been running import in our supra for years, but doubt it will find it's way into our Porsche any time soon. Most tuners have thier opinions, experiences and most importantly preferences on what they feel works best, so as with anything consult ur resident expert before experimenting.
