Tire Advice
This might be a cliche question but i am relatively new to the Porsche scene. i bought a used pair of RG5's and i need tires. Ive been told Pilot's are the way to go and i want to know: what tires to buy and where to buy them. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
It depends on what type of driving you're doing and what you want out of your tires?

1. handling
2. longevity
3. appearance
(I have recently learned the "welcome to porsche" lesson in that anything i want to do is going to cost a lot of money so i am ignoring price, for now)

If you are going to drive the car to work save your money as there really is no need for pilots. They are the stickiest street tire you can get, and for that bragging right Michelin is very very proud i.e. the price is about twice anything else.
I have them on my factory rims and had them on my Champion Rg5's. As the rears last only a few thousand miles due to negative camber, I went with the Toyo's this time on my Champions and could not be happier.

DOT, I actually like my sumi's (for street tire...)...rain/etc. IF I were fast, I'd probably get an R compound DOT tire or PS2's in gt2 sizing.
The issue is, frankly, cost. I am not good enough to need/justify the doubling/tripling of cost (yet).

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would as here......
What is the best street/strip/track tire. My PS2's suck in straightline acceleration as I spin them way to easily. Not to worried about mileage, just want the best all around tire that will give me great traction in straight as well as turns.
my conti's were probably the worst tires I have ever owned.
