Wasn't this a pic of you and your "homeboy" ... and you have the nerve to call someone gay. It seems like you are the biscuit champ.

I am not really sure what specific area is trying to be compared in this 6 speed versus tip discussion?
Is it the track, twisties, acceleration 0-60, 0-100, 1-150 0-200, rolling starts or manlyhood?
I believe Excellence conducted a turbo shootout once. Something like a 993tt (six speed), 993tt modified (six speed) and a 996tt (tip). There may have been a 996tt manual, I don't remember. They used one mag editor (I believe it was Dave Colman) and a Pro (I believe it was Kevin Buckler) as test drivers. I believe the track was Infineron.
If my memory serves me corectly, it was the April 2000 edition. It might help solve some of the questions.

CJV,
It was the April 2001 issue. Danny Sullivan, Kevin Buckler & David Colman did the driving.
The cars: '88 959, '94 3.6 Turbo S, '97 TTS (stock), '97 TTS (modified), '01 TT tip.
Both drivers (Buckler & Sullivan) turned their fastest laps in the '01 tip.
The modified Turbo S had the closest times to the tip, but Sullivan was the only one allowed to drive it and he said he didn't push too hard.
FYI: Paul Tracy had a Techart modified 996 TT tip. Does that somehow make him a wimp or less of a man?
He said that he drives a clutch operated 900hp car for a living and that no street car can give him the same rush and it was a chance to get away from having to shift when he isn't "working", so he was very happy w/tip.

Good man, you beat me to it. I went up to my office and pulled it. You are indeed correct. To make matters worse, I completely forgot about Danny Sullivan. I guess my age is catching up with my memory. April 2001 is indeed the correct issue. Thanks for the help.

For a variety of reasons, some people prefer a tip. It is funny how in the 60's a Corvette was considered a "man's" car until they introduced it with an auto tranny.
Forty years later it appears we are seeing a re run.
In my opinion it is a subjective matter. I believe the tip like the manual has it's strenghts and it's weaknesses.

Isn't this what this board is really all about. "Helping" each other to the best of our abilities. If we happen to be wrong or make a mistake, acknowledge it and move on. I think we can all agree that personel attacks serve no useful or constructive purpose.
