Nurburgring USA
Yes this is current, there is still lots of cash in this country, don't be fooled by the media. There is one track likely to get funding now that they have county approval here in the southeast, bluegrass motorsports park that is just being finished, one in NC who's developers have screwed up and failed inspections which is why it's behind, one in stark FL. A new US F1 team, Several other parks in Fl have revamped, NJMP just open last year. The money is out there.
Most are exploring the private funding networks which is why the banks aren't lending anyways. The private sectors want to lend money but are finding that they are better off doing the research themselves instead of buying loans from the bank.

NJMP is open, but I think they are a ways from implementing their original plan. (All of those garages, track-side villas, etc...) Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a new track pop up on the east coast, but the economics of a race track are just very difficult. As for the US F1 team, I hope they don't bring disgrace to our country. (Like Ferrari is doing to Italy this year.
) All of this talk about Danica in an F1 car makes me sigh. I think she'd get trounced.

Putting Danica in an F1 car when there are several more qualified drivers would be the only way to disgrace IMO. They'd be selling out for sponsorship dollars right off the bat and not trying to build a decent team. Otherwise, they are new to F1 and if they have teething problems that Brawn did not have because of buying an existing team, I'll still be proud of them for trying.
Cars need to look sweet too, black and blue maybe.

lol! I'm going to Bluegrass this July... Can't wait!!!!
Eagerly awaiting the track in NC to open... I've only heard of it. Never seen it.
And Dan Wheldon wouldn't be too bad. He's relatively light, young and has great talent.
Tony Kanaan, Scott Dixon, etc... are getting up there in age.
Perhaps little Andretti could make a breakthrough? Or Scott Speed could make a statement? Wow, the possibilities... I'm just excited that this finally happened.
*edit: You were referring to High Rock, right?

) I guess my point is that the marketing dollars mean a lot to an underfunded team.
I may be in the minority here, but that's how I feel about it. I can't wait to get on that Bluegrass track. Like deflowering a ....
Bad road to drive on? The Nordschleife? Are you kidding? It is kept in phenomenal shape, and if you go on a weekday there are very few tourists on it. You can easily get fast laps in, slowed by only a car or two, and hit 175mph+ in at least 2, maybe 3 sections. All of the various turns, undulations, and scenery earn it the legendary status that it deserves. The Carrosel is the only part that does suck to drive on, but it's still a blast.
There you go again, talking about something you have absolutely no idea about...

I don't have a single urge to drive the 'Ring, other than for nostalgic reasons. It's like looking for a bad road to drive on. No thanks. I'll stay on newly paved roads/tracks that are properly maintained.

You are not the minority, I will take a Tilke Design track over the Nurburgring all day. It will have sufficient runoff room and newly paved and smooth roads. The ring roads may be immaculate but they are still bumpy.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still want to go and drive the ring, but realistically speaking, I'll enjoy this track as much or more if it comes into existance.
Speaking of which, you are judging a track that hasn't even been built yet. Not the ring, ok we agree, but not in the same ballpark? Based on what?

I'm not discrediting the 'Ring at all. I'm not going to fly back over Germany just to drive it. I agree it is a legend, and no other track can compare to it's scenery.
