18g vs 20g

Just bought a tiptronic 996 turbo, decided to go with K24 turbos but Im not sure what are the benifits of 18g vs 20g and the disadvantages. Can someone please help. I dont want to upgrade a bunch of other things just want to do the injectors and TC. Thanks for your help.

This is the best time for you to get a dyno before any mods; getting a bench mark is quite important to understand what the power increase in the future. Just remember, you'll need to bring your car back to the same dyno (with similar weather condition) in order to get a fair comparison.

If you are thinking going from K16 to K24, don't; you don't get much power increase. You should go to either K16/16 or K24/18 based on your driving style. You'll save money on the long run.

I did the 18g. I'm happy with it. To upgrade to the 18g all you need in the way of fueling is a 5 bar. Unlike the 18g the 20g requires an extra fuel pump, injectors, intake and intercoolers at a minimum (translation=more$$$$$$).

are you planning on installing Injectors to increase your safety margin? wonder how many are running the 18g with just a 5 bar fpr. Have you logged your duty cycle?

Sorry, I thought the basic K24 was one of the options. If you don't want to upgrade "a bunch of other things", go with the smaller option.

I believe the 20's require bottom end to be built which equates to a lot of money to open and close one of these engines. Go with the 18's.

plus with a tip you probably can't even max out the K24/18g without killing your tranmission (10k)
