Exhaust Cel

I have a pretty constant exhaust CEL on my 996 TT with my modified exhaust and headers, the car runs otherwise wise mega perfectly, is there a special procedure for disconnecting & resetting the battery, I have a spare MAF maybe I should just try that ?' Comments very welcome

what is an "exhaust CEL"?????

I can't find any codes that mention 'exhaust'.

Maybe if you can post up the actual code number you can get some help other than the old "Microsoft-hit-reboot" method!

oK THANKS FOR INPUT, switched the MAF,tho probably not relevent and left the battery off for a longer period, interestingly when you do this the clock resets 00:00 rather than just a few minutes later

As mentioned above, you should post the actual codes. The codes provide direction for diagnostics. Just doing a reset is not the best idea. It also resets the ECU and then has to re-learn your driving style. Also please post MY, model and mods (if any). You do not need a radio code if your car is >'03.

derm is infamous around these parts
I think it is the O2 sensor code. I have this constantly after installing the RPI exhaust. It comes back almost immediately after the reset. I just live with it, nothing wrong otherwise.

The problem with driving around with a CEL illuminated on the dash is when something ELSE goes wrong, potentially serious, you'll never know because the light is always on.

"Car drove fine" right up to the point when 'something happened'....

Exactly,

I have the secondary O2 sensors throw a code every once in a while for catalyst inefficiency on my e46 BMW (daily driver, low $) and I just have the codes checked every 3mo to know what's going on - something I would NOT recommend on a high $ Porsche.

That said, can you have the codes permanently cleared (turned off) for 02s/cats when you go to straight pipes?
