Just bought my 01 996, going to EPL next weekend!
Hello Gents,
I just purchased a 01 tiptronic 996tt the car should arrive in Chicago this week and I will be driving the car up to epl this weekend. I have been debating two set ups.
- K24/18g's
- 58 pound injectors
- EVOMS TC
- Aquamist HSF1
- Custom Transmission cooler with PLX fluid temp gauge
- catless exhaust (havent found one yet)
Or
-Tail GT3071 Turbos
-72lb injectors
-Aquamist HSF-1
-EVOMS TC
-Custom Transmission cooler with PLx fluid temp gauge
-Catless Exhaust
-Aquamist HSF1
I know that the K24/18gs are proven turbos. The Tail setup is very strong but I would have them tuned to around 550whp until I can ensure that the tranny is okay and also build up the motor a bit.
Thoughts?

Another good guy that has these turbos or had (GT3071) if I am not mistaken is Powell, extremely nice guy. Shoot him a PM, he is very knowledgable. Houston crew is good. More info for K24/18G would be ChrisGreen, board member. He will talk you out of all these to go with Ethanol (E85)
congrats either way.

Okay talked to Tony@EPL this morning.
I will NOT be doing a GT3071 instead I am doing a custom GT28 setup with meth. Hope to have dyno sheets for you guys by next weekend.

You will not regret the GT28 setup. They are a quick spooling turbo that will make a nice amount of power.
The 3071 variant that I have is laggy (not really bad, but its no where close to my K16s), but makes a TON of power when she goes into boost. The new version of Tials turbo spool better and make about 15-20rwhp more than my current setup so I've been told. They could possibly be in the future, but as it stands now I am just going to see how much boost she can take.
You def. did pick the man to go to. Tony is the sh*t!

Powell said it brother. GT28's are quick. I have videos of running with K24/20G as well as K24/18G. They did not come close. Just my 2 cents. I have the turbos plus 60lb injectors if anyone is interested.
With the right tune and good driving you should run 10s in 1/4 mile. Congrats!!
. Ill call you shortly, you will be pleased. The spool on the 28r's is mind blowing. They're making nearly 100 ftlbs more at 3200 then k24/18g's with at least the same peak power (more) as I would expect on a k24/18g car. Ill let Cossey post his final results. Untill then alittle teaser.
Spool/Power Delievery compare :
Blue - 24/18
Green - 3071 - Tial (New Alpha series turbos)
Red - 28rs - Tial (New Alpha series turbos )
