The Upsolute may have problems when used K-24's and larger. Maybe David can answer that. However, for 500 fwhp and below, all information I have show they work fine. At the cost of approximately $500. I believe they are the best value on the market for the power delivered in that range.
Your original statement was that "I believe Upsolute would beat say stage I and II power and be pretty close to III". How do you figure?

Not the point, has anyone dyno tested the upsolute? You say that it makes more power than stage 2 or stage 3? How do you figure? Hear say? I dont care if it does I am just wondering how you obtained this info

Todd,
There is a lot of hear say in this industry. I have seen a Upsolute equipted car run at the RPM Tuning dyno. It didn't record the claimed 90 hp but it was within 14%. I have also seen one of your stage IV's on the same dyno. It was within 1000 miles of having returned from your facility. The claim was 500 rwhp. It recorded 462 rwhp. So it was within 10% of the claim.
The point is, if Upsolute adds 75 hp for $500. it is very good value for people who want this much hp and are not looking to go any higher.
I would say the same thing for the EVO stages if someone wanted to go up to your stage IV. There is value in climbing the latter up to your stage IV. You can economically take the steps up to about 500 rwhp or 600 fwhp.
I do not believe this so for someone who wants to go from your stage IV to stage V. I understand that jump would require returning most of the stage IV parts and coming up with an additional 24K.
I guess what I am saying and this is MY opinion, your stage IV is good value for hp offered for people who want to be in that hp range. It is also my opinion in the lower hp ranges, Upsolute offers better valve. I am not a tuner, just an independent 996tt owner. Again, this is only my 2 cents based on my experiences and information available to me.

The dyno numbers were lower with the bad DV's. The 462 was the actual numbers with the new DV's and how it left the shop and the dyno. If anyone is interested, contact me and I will provide name and number to verify what I have stated. Remember Todd, these are "actual" dyno numbers for altitude and temperature. The temperature for the day was about 80 degrees and the altitude is very close to sea level. I am sure both you and Upsolute use a correction factor as both of the cars were about the same amount below their claims.
The above is off topic to the thread. My opinion is Upsolute offers great valve for their intended power range (500 fwhp), period. Just like I believe EVO offers great valve in their Stage IV range (600 rwhp), period. I just disagree with you that EVO offers the best value in all ranges. I am not a tuner, don't sell parts, and use the best (in most cases when I can get them) parts available. As one private individual I am entitled to my opinion. I could be right or I could be wrong, others can draw their own conclusions.

Value & performing better are 2 different things and I never stated anything about value.
In regards to the 462 HP uncorrected what does that translate to? Sometimes I think you just like reading your own posts.

Todd,
At just under 80 degee's at sea level, I don't know. I will trust you to provide the answer what is it?
Your question of value and performing better is a good one. If I bring my stock 996tt to EVOMS, what hp can you provide for $500? I take it one step further, what stage do you offer that will provide more than 90 fwhp (approx. 77 rwhp). What is the hp it provides and what is the cost.
I could take this a step further. Will you do this conversion in my local area (or where the person lives) without additional costs? Or do I have additional costs getting there?
Will you refund my money in 30 days and remove your equipment if I don't like your product after you installed it?
These are all legitimate questions for someone comparing the products.
Who knows, you may convert me.

Look, I have converted at least 8 upsolute customers. I agree with you $500 is pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for. I think there are a few people on this board that we all know that have converted from Upsolute to GIAC and couldnt be happier. Your point is good on the cost involved, however you are dealing with a $100K + car here and I believe that our product is well worth the additional expense.
In terms of the uncorrected #'s I would have to guess that 462 RWHP uncorrected is pretty close to 500 RW HP corrected because that is how it left the dyno in PHX. The correction factor is there for a reason and I think that 99.9% of the tuners in the world use this #.

msindi,
Let's talk about lag, care to compare the stage I to the Upsolute? Or how about the stage II and stage III. I can eliminate a lot of lag with $65. and and two hours of wraping time. You are comparing the Upsolute to a stage IV. That is like comparing your stage IV to my car. I have already stated the stage IV is good value for 500 rwhp. It is a good product in the market place in that power range. Lets compare the Upsolute with each lower stage. There are a lot of customers in that power range. An honest comparison would be interesting. Maybe, the Upsolute isn't a better value than lets say the stage III, but lets compare. Show me and others and have an honest exchange of questions and answers. Todd has seen my above post. I am hoping for an answer to the questions along with what he says 462 rwhp converts to at just below 80 degrees.
This is no more than providing all the information to potential buyers and letting them make their own decisions. Of course both products will have strong and weak points based on what someone wants and what they can afford or are willing to spend. I am not putting down either product. List the strenghts and weakness and let people decide with good information how a product addressess their situation and needs.

Here is a can of worms for you guys....This is a picture of Msindi chip. Couple of things wrong with picture. The first is I do not believe you can do a proper burn on the fly on a kitchen table nor console of your car. The computers are very sensitive and more importantly expensive to replace. Damaging the pads or causing the computer to fail is all to common when the proper environment doesn't come into play. What this picture shows is the soldering of the chip. Stalactites are not proper soldering and run the risk of coming off and rolling around inside the ECU. The end result is a shorted ECU or codes that will not go away. The connections are not constant from the chip and will cause issues in time. It may be ok for a while, but vibration and heat will take it toll. The 996TT gets hottest than any other ECU I know based on the construction to move mass amounts of data.
Second issue of this picture. The chip...Yes it is a AMD29800BB, BUT it is a 70S verses the 55 that comes originally in the ECU. The heat rating and data transfer will not be the same. What will happen is the heat will get to the chip because its ratings are less and send garbled data to the ECU resulting in some of the oddest errors and behavior you can imagine. So this ECU was switched with the improper chip.
When all of these things are considered I am not so sure 500.00 is the best value. Not because I sell something different, but because I would be pissed if someone did this to my ECU. I have built and repaired electronics since I was 16, and this is some pretty basic stuff here.
