Upsolute installed

Got my ECU back from Upsolute yesterday. My car is a standard TT. All I can say is for the money, it is great. Power is much more even, NO turbo lag. Car easily hits 1.0 bar. So far, I am really happy. I don't plan on doing a dyno, but if their claim is correct, I got 90hp, for $500.00.

I too got my Upsolute today. I chose the installer because he let me go to his shop and wait for the installation. Total time: 2 1/2 hrs!
I am showing boost sooner than before installation (ie. less turbo lag) and the boost rises faster and hits 1.0 consistently (1.1 one very short instant).
The car is definitely quicker, but, hey, it wasn't slow before.
Best bang for the buck!

Who did your chip work?

I drove up to Naugatuck, CT - John at My Garage for the Upsolute install. John is a young guy who works for his Uncle who has operated the place for 17 years. They do mostly Porsche, but had a V12 SL, a couple of Audis, .....
They are real Porschephiles and like their work. They showed me the EVOS DV which they recommend and were anxious to talk about their $10,000 tire changer. He is hoping to get a 4 wheel dyno by next year. I liked their attitude.

I took my ECU out in about 10 minutes and overnight mailed it to Rene Berube who is the Upsolute Rep for North America. He did the work and sent it back the same day. It was very easy.

Dollar spent per hp gained, I believe the Upsolute is the best value out there up to about 500 (flywheel)hp. Most people who have bought it seem to be happy with the performance gains.

You are right Chad. I am having Imagineauto do my tt cab when it comes in but I am still really satisfied with this junior chip. I would like your feedback pertaining to this. As I mentioned in the earlier post I was at .7 bar and now 1.0 and in 4th gear get it to 1.2 on a consistant basis. Why is this happening in 4th etc instead of 1,2, or 3rd. Your input is appreciated.

Doug,

My gearing is much different from the stock 996tt's so I am not sure I could give you a good comparison. I can attain peak boost in a fraction of a second in any any gear. I had to lenghten first and second because they were worthless with my set up.

I have driven in other tt's and have found if you want to see maximum boost, you go to fourth gear or higher at about 3500 rpm's and give it wot.

I wouldn't call it a junior chip. Different people are happy with different power levels. I believe Upsolute would beat say stage I and II power and be pretty close to III. Of course the other stages would walk away from it. One thing that cannot be beat is the price. I had one person the other day ask what chip to use if he wanted 500 fwhp and didn't want to break the bank. I recommended he look at Upsolute. Another economical way of noticably reducing boost lag time is to wrap your headers and hot side turbo.

Backed my car out of the garage today ... started to go forward and the check engine light popped on ... got out and it smelled like gas fumes??? Have had 2000 trouble free Upsolute miles, hope this is something other than ECU related?

Dario...

Might want to try unplug the battery terminal for an 1/2 hour and the CE light should go away. However, I would still have it check out since you mentioned some "gas" smells. Could just be the car running a bit rich in the morning...

Dario,

It sounds like you might have moved the car before you warmed up the kats. Did you start it and move it right away?

Msindi,
Glad to here your comments on the stage 4. Let me know your Dyno results
All the best

With regards to Upsolute, I'm pretty sure that DavidVa is putting down 550-580 rwhp. His car has modded turbos etc.. hes always positive with regards to Upsolute.
