Ruf decisions!
Ruf decisions!
I'm currently in the market for a newer P-car, and have had my sites on a 6GT3
, I recently saw an 03 996Rturbo 550( 996tt/ Ruf 550 conversion) listed on ebay, that I wouldn't mind trying. The car has 41k on the odo, asking price is 65k
! My question is, what is the real value of something like this, as it is a 996tt w/ body & pwr upgrade? I've seen 03 996tt w/ this kind of mileage, selling in the high 40k range. The 550 conversion is priced @ 29k on their site. As It is not a true Ruf ie: Ruf vin,etc... Can this car command a price like this. I'm afraid to buy a 996tt selling @ this price , only to be told later, that I overpaid for a 996tt w/ this upgrade! I know the Ruf name holds its own, but any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

My own experience
I know from my own personal experience that RUF only warranties the original owner, so if there are any problems with the car at all you are out of luck, like I was with my exhaust. If it hadn't have been for others on this site showing class and helping me out I would still be searching for an exhaust I could afford. RUF is an ok product, I would just be careful, at this price even more so. Someone with more experience could provide a more helpful hand about the price.
Yes and I second Rob's recommendation you will be buying a no expense spared car that will run flawlessly for as long as you can use your right foot. Few cars on this board are as well sorted as Marty's.

You should ask the Ruf center selling the car these questions. I was looking at a Ruf upgrade many years ago and when I inquired about the warranty, I was told it is only for the Ruf products themselves. I specifically asked if my motor blew after installing their package...would it be warrantied? The answer was "NO"...only our parts are warrantied.
As I understand it, you only have a warranty on the Ruf turbos, programming and the few other Ruf items. It would also most certainly void any factory CPO warranty that may exist.

Definitely check on Marty's (Woodster's) car. I rode in it the day it was delivered to him. Most work and upgrades were performed by the "Master" Todd at Protomotive.
