Adding a stock CD Changer

I have an '02 996TT and have come across a CD changer out of a '99 996. Will the CD Changer out of the '99 work with the head unit in my '02?

If so, I assume my '02 is pre-wired for the CD changer, correct? What will I need to complete the installation? I believe there is a mounting bracket specific to the 996TT for the changer-any one know the part number?

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if it was '02 or '03 when they switched to an optical MOST BUS, but if it was '02, you will not be able to use a changer from a '99. I have one from an '03 that I might be looking to get rid of, taken from the car at 5,000 miles. (I can pull the bracket, if you need.) In the cars with a MOST BUS, you will need to have the dealer "activate" the changer, as just plugging it in is not enough.

Thanks for the reply guys, I think it is compatible.

Is the '02 pre-wired for the CD Changer or will I have to buy an extension to the existing harness? Also, can someone post a pic of ow its munted?

Thanks again.

I can snap a picture of the mount when I get to the car this weekend. (I assume it's the same on all of the model years.) I can't help with the wiring question, though. I have the MOST bus.

I bought an '02, and needed the CD mounting hardware to mount my Phatnoise. I had to do a bit of research to get the part numbers. I ended up not needing all of this stuff, since I was mounting a Phatnoise and not a CD changer, regardless I bought ALL of the changer mounting pieces. I did NOT order the cable as I had to fabricate a custom cable for the Phatnoise. So this is everything BUT the cable. If you buy a cable remember to route cable to it's destination before inserting the pins into the connector.

OEM-90037818809
Genuine Porsche Part: BOLT HEX-HD. 6x20 Qty 2 ($2 for both) * Get these for sure

OEM-99661020700
Genuine Porsche Part: CABLE COVER Qty 1 ($2 - Ended up not needing this for my install - Would question if it's absolutely necessary, hides the CD cable a bit, may make the install cleaner)

OEM-99664523100
Genuine Porsche Part: CD CHANGER MOUNT - Qty 1 ($29.75) * Get this for sure

OEM-99907506709
Genuine Porsche Part: SCREW 4X8 Qty 2 ($2 for both) * Get these for sure

OEM-99950007800
Genuine Porsche Part: PRESS-IN NUT Qty 2 ($8.50 for both) * Get these for sure
OEM-99950753202

Genuine Porsche Part: U-CLIP Qty 2 ($2 for both) - I believe these were included with the changer bracket, so you may not need these. Can't remember for sure. I can check the garage for extras to make sure.

That's it, hopefully it helps you out and at least gets you real close to everything you need. I ordered from Pelican Parts.

It is ready, but not prewired, you need a harness. As far as activation I believe you can find the instructions here on 6speed. I'm in the same boat but decided to hold off since the stock CD changer is **** and will not play any burnt cds, MP3 cd's or anything of that matter so you're stuck loading it up with all your original Beatles favorites.
