Do you think this is a good deal for 03?

A leasing agency is asking $45K for an 03 car with 30K miles on it
http://www.cuoftexasautomall.com/det...o-4421237.html

The seller isn't flexible on the price and I tend to agree that the car is priced sensibly. What scares me is that this car lacks any maintenance history. The VIN search in the porsche system only reports a single repair of a trivial kind. No evidence of any service beyond 4K oil change. No records of 15K or 30K service. No paperwork is present. The agency won't release the name of the previous owner but very comfortable at allowing PPI.

The Porsche system doesn't record servicing only warranty work perofrmed. They can tell you who the original dealer was that sold the car and then you have to do the detective work to find the dealer/s that did the servicing. Once you find the dealer/s you can get new log books and have them updated.

Hmm, are you in absolute possession of the certainty in this regard? I seem to recall that I was able to see all the maintnance performed on my current car by the previous owner in another dealership.

Only the dealer performing the work has the details. NA Porsche doesn't have it, I went through the same process.

Bro, you're putting too much emphasis on ''service records'' and potentially F-ing yourself out of a great deal becuase of it...I've seen this many times in my professional career selling high-line vehicles.

First off its a Porsche, not a ferrari. They're built like tanks and breed on the hardest endurance race courses of the world. A couple of BS missed services on a car with only 30K miles never killed a 911 lol. Am i advocating for everyone to forego all their services if they have a well built car? Of course not... what I'm saying is at $45K for a clean 03' 996TT is more than fair enough pricing not only without service records, but that deal/price covers even NOT having had a single service performed. The dealer already communicated to you they had no problem with a PPI* That'll tell you everything u need to know on a 30K car... if the PPI comes out clean, stop being a "squirrel"

Good luck, nice color.

Thank you, thank you! Indeed I might be too preoccupied with the service records and fooling myself out of a great deal.

But this car being a no-records, no-warranty, three previous owner lease return just doesn't feel my stomach with warm feeling. I'll see if I can convince them to include a 30K service in the price.

Please do keep in mind that I'll be selling an all-records, all-maintenance, extended warranty, mint 04 anniversary edition for this. This dealer doesn't take trades.

Just me but I'd never consider this. Make sure your PPI looks at overrev and maybe even compression/leakdown, especially if you convince them to do the plugs- doing the test when doing the plugs is a hour or two more labor. Remember, there is no such think as a 'standard PPI'...

Have you seen the car in person?
The drivers entry sill looks pretty scuffed up. Not a big deal, i guess, but maybe a sign the car wasnt loved as much as it should have.
45K for a 03 seems fair, but get a good PPI.

It looks as good a condition as mine. I bought mine a year and a half ago with 45k on it for $55k...If it checks out.., I think it's a good deal.
It's funny to me that everyone is complaining that the values are so low on our cars, but no one wants to start paying more for them to bring the values back up...

Well, this is a lease return and the dealer says that they just wants what they have in that vehicle. Although, every dealer I dealt with told me the exact same line.

I'd bet at that price that dealer is telling the truth... particularly if he's had the vehicle for a while.

...it looks like the value of the 996TT's are dropping like flys! lol... And i don't see them coming back anytime soon, look for low 30K's for your average mile clean 01-02' TT this fall/winter coming up...

However, once they hit the $30K point... i think their prices will be soley dependant on mileage & condition. I don't see clean/low mileage TT's going for the mid 20's ever.

Considering that the TT engine from the wreckers is going for ~$15K, I think you're right.
