Replace it yourself if you have time. It is not a super hard DIY. Search for the DIY thread on this board. I did mine in less than an hour with some help... Probably can be done in less than 2 hours with no experience...

I can get you a great deal on an alternator if you need it. I just had mine done and it took the shop less than 2 hours.

an under performing battery can kill an alternator. That is why I have a super heavy duty overweight battery.
