996TT - Long term keeper ???
I can think of no other car that will give you the level of comfort and performance, with timeless style and good looks, not to mention fit and finish.
I do a lot of my own work on my 996TT, and because I also get asked to "loan" my shop/ lift to others, I end up working on other cars of all makes/models... In the last 30 years of turning wrenches (I'm only 42, but dad got me started early) I can tell you that no other car comes to mind for true reward of ownership.
I'm a track guy, and a GT3 would be an EXCELLENT choice for that duty. However, if you want to create a TT track warrior that will still look good on the street, it's not hard to do.
I guess the question should be what are you bored with on the car? What would you like to do with it?

I always wanted a 911 turbo from the days of the 930.....posters....and now I have one.
It is the Honda of supercars, but it can be expensive to fix...if you find a good place to fix it...then it is a keeper. If you are paying 300 to do an oil change....find a new place.....

What wing is that and where did u get it from ?
Re this thread, I'm planning on keeping mine for a long time if not forever.
from the angle of someone whose in the market and has decided to buy a 996tt (hopefully next week) I'd say if you're looking for a DD, that's got some good power out of box, good base to mod off of, decently robust, has track potential, rawish, not a cop magnet, can sit small persons in back when needed, dont feel too guilty driving with in inches of the cars failure points, and has more or less taken brunt of depreciation, there's not much that rival it with in this range. I'm hoping mine keeps me interested for some time to come.
I have had my 03 for two years in Oct. Paid 75k cpo'd with exactly the color and interior I wanted. She had 1,300 miles at the time and still felt brand new and stickered for 128k.
I did the Proto650 tune with triple disc clutch by ats and a few other goodies like pss10's. It was my dd for a year and ran perfect, I have dragged her and tracked her and now I am going to follow Mikelly's suspention advice to feel comfy taking her to the next level.
Just did a DE at TWS in College Station for 3 days and watched Vipers keep needing work and breaking down. Don't get me wrong, I have a srt10 vert so I love the snakes, but my tt was bullet proof and I drove her hard and home when it was all over.
Picked up an 05 F430 that I co-own with Jnixon on the 997tt forum. Yes, the car sounds amazing and looks amazing inside and out. Yes the F car is very peppy and the f1 trans is a nice change. So I luv my muscle in the viper and the refinement of the F car but I would sell them all and keep the TT if that time ever came around. I have 12k on the TT and it is very very solid. Looking forward to another 60k+ or more.

From SamboTT..user here. It is an OEM 996 RSR part with the decklid being fabbed custom as are the upgrights. Works well at speed.
I have seen it's brother from time to time on eBay. It is not a simple or cheap wing...is make the car look like a 911 cup series car...which I like.

mashaw offers something like that as well. Cup wing for turbos, different wingstays and decklid to gt3 , same top wing and RS wing ends. really nice set up, Im thinking about it too... but it's illegal here and part of the reason i'm moving to a porsche was to avoid feeling like a criminal...
That's just what I did about a month ago... purchased an '03 RS6 and added a few mods... I plan to keep the TT for as long as it runs.
