I agree,

They sound like an obnoxious motorboat; Awful sound.

You can get plenty of power thru a good exhuast;

Seeing this thread has me wondering... anyone know of a person that has cut the stock exhaust?

Asking because this is what I'm doing this week. Will be dropping the ends by the welder sometime this week. I have a feeling, especially looking at the flap coming off the cat inside the shell... it looks like it will reflect the dispensed exhaust against the apposite side before exiting thought the tailpipes. This should cut down on the baffle sound a muffler bypass gives off and even give this little setup some back pressure.

I'm comparing a fabspeed muffler/cat bypass setup on a 996 gt3 vs my car with fvd straight pipes off the turbo... I wasn't speaking for the masses , way too many different setups and cars out there!

Has anyone tried putting "race mufflers" (straight through design) in place of the cats and have the whole pipe still be a foot and a half long when fabbing up straight pipes? Vibrant makes a 3 inch outlet/inlet diameter race muffler thats only nine inchs long. Cost only $78 each and if it removes some of the drone or the ear peicing scream it might be a cheap mod? Has anyone tried this?

I have thought about doing something similar but leaving high flows in original place off the turbos and instead of using a muffler or race muffler, use a small resonator with a small pipe still allowing the tips to work.

Ya, I am just thinking of going catless and building my own set, it seems noboby has a used set they would like to get rid of. But I am slightly apprehensive only because of some guys with the usual noise/drone complaints and I figure that the race mufflers might help. I was hoping that someone had done this route and can chime in if its worth the time and money.

I think Markski had that with his old setup, but not sure.

Hi Marty,

Don't know. Placed a call to him recently and left a message. It was related to work I wanted him to do for me and I asked if he were still for hire. No response. I guess dead is a possibility.
